I think its here:
go to Tools--Options, then click on the General Tab. The fourth check box is "Automatically Log on to AOL Instant Messenger"
Hope that works!

I know on Windoze XP MSIM automatically starts along with OutShnook and it spams me about getting Spam and enlarging certain parts of my body. Well anyhow you can choose in XP which IM will spam you and if you don't choose any then MSIM will automatically do it.
My solution- Don't ever start Outlook- EVER. Sure it would be niocer to have a simple Install Script just to remove MSIM or Outlook but the court told MS that hidding it would be fine.
BTW even though MSIM is hidden- It still starts up when Outlook is Started.
Yea, I don't get it. Why would I want to enlarge my neck?Quote:

lol. Mine used to do that too. I turned it off a few months ago.
Sydney's got the instructions.
Haha. Someone recommend a better email agent
for me to use. I'm getting bored of OE! :D
Seeing as I never signed up for any IM ever (No AIM, No AOL, No anything) I was wondering how the spammers get my Addy?Quote:

Let alone if such ads would even be aplicable (Perhaps I don't have a left toe)??
I wonder if I can sue MS now???
As far as better Mail Agents- Mozilla. get the Calander plugin and its much better than OE. Pegasus Mail Very good also http://www.pmail.com/ .

Nothing in this thread has stopped it. I unchecked the 'automatically signon to IM' feature in my options and it still happens. Please tell me someone else has had this issue and knows how to deal with it.
Honestly,
The only cure is to switch mail clients and not use Outlook.
I posted the cure- PMail or MozMail!!!
Terrible. Somebody should do a Microsoft drive-by from the tech-corridor of Virginia to Silicon Valley. Thanks.
What is MSIM??? If you mean MSN Messenger, it is not the cause for your spam ads. The cause of the spam is Microsoft Messenger Service which is completely different and seperate from MSN Messenger. These adds can be turned off by turning off the messenger process.
Ive NEVER had any problems with outlook...
msim?bah... you can dig into the registry a bit and rid yourself of all that headache along with all that msn stuff too...
there isnt a single reference on my cpu to msim
just need to search around and be a bit more bold with your computer...
(p.s.-
i heareby claim no responibility for messed up puters nor do i encourage registry tweaking unless you know what you are doing...)
can you recommend a freeware client that is a feature rich/lighter than outlook?
if so, i wouldnt mind swithcing just to wipe a bit more microsoft product off my box...
Any insight as to how to remove AOL IM from associating with Outlook?
