Whoa they got a new splash. I love it :)
yeah, it's a great piece, but I wonder why they just abandoned the whoswe.com domain, it always seems to be this way with these guys, there's always something odd going on.
I vote whoswe offices as the next reality tv fly on the wall show :)
Surely www.whoswe.com is a better url, simpler, no?
Simpler? yes... but the bandwidth was a mutha! Plus, we're just spontaneous like that. :)
These guys are brilliant and the concept is trend setting. Of course bandwidth is an issue however there are those take things to the next level and those that dont. I saw this site a while ago and remember it being incomplete? They have obviously been hard at work. I notice some of the material is questionable and when your trying to get the 2Advanced contracts (which most of us could use) this could be a distraction. I thought the "how we do it" was HALARIOUS, but it doesnt seem to fit the target market very well. Its hard to take these guys serious. They will have no problem paying the bills but it doesnt look like they give 2 ****s about much! They have a jackass kind of flava!
I think aversion summed it up LOL.Quote:

http://www.whoswestudios.com/ is a dead link right now
so thats how you save on bandwidth costs.
change your domain name to save bandwidth costs, ok it will work, but it's a bad idea.
A beeter way to decrease bandwidth would be to build a slimmer site, have a few cool 3D fx instead of the whole site.
and why is that dodgy preloader still there, come on guys stop making new splash pages and change that preloader.

ya right they have the best splashs i have ever seen. keep changing em! rack up that BW! YARR!!
I'd never seen that "how we do it" movie before... hilarious! But useless for attracting clients :( .
sometimes its not always about the clients.
whoswe did the kimpire site right and trendax and maybe a few others that are belong to kimpire but why doesnt kimpires own http://www.kimpany.com/ <<--best webdesign according to them selfs do the sites? The preloader on the kimpany sites is the same as on alot of other whoswe sites. So did whoswe do the site for a webdesign company,, a bogus one i guess but still. Just wondering.
4 mgb preloaders are hip!Quote:

Ok... so you guys took my remark out of context. We actually don't care about bandwidth issues. We don't care about loading times. We are exploring, not following. I wonder how many of you still watch blk/wht television... furthermore, I don't see you guys bombarding apple for having 8-20mg (sometimes even more) mpg trailers on their site (compared the the 2mg Who's We site). I wish I had a nickel every time I heard a bandwidth remark, I'd buy you guys a coke... with burbon...Quote:

I also don't think very many people understand the concept, let alone the process for implementing 3d into flash. If it was just as easy as importing sequencials into flash straight from the 3d app, life would be much easier. Optimization is priceless on the web.
...oh... and changing domain names was not a bad idea.
dodgy preloader aye? please explain.
If you don't care about bandwidth issues then why did you change your domain to reduce your bandwidth? you are contridicting yourselves!Quote:

Implementing 3D in flash is not difficult, it is as simple as importing sequences of pics, don't try and fool the flash community into thinking that it is difficult, producing cool 3D graphics is difficult and respect to you for that.
As for the preloader, I am not talking about the tapping robotic hand, that is very cool, I am talking about this(see attached image) and the reasons I have highlited on the picture, although this was a waste of my time I didn't want my point to go unjustified, which I think It did the first time, my apologies.

Let's answer your first question..Quote:

"If you don't care about bandwidth issues then why did you change your domain to reduce your bandwidth?"
Although I can not directly answer your question, I assure you we are not contradicting ourselves being that this change in domain names does not affect our workload.
To reinstate what I said earlier about 3d implemented into flash, I think you're beginning to get a little pushy as if you have some sort of bone to pick with Who's We. I think you missed the last sentence about optimization. Yeah, it IS true, anyone and their goat can export sequencials out of a 3d app and import them into flash, but there is a process that goes beyond that to determine optimal output that many people seem to overlook. I've seen many people attempt to bring in sequencials into a single movie that hit the 1mg mark almost instantly on several sites.
Now... about the preloader, it is acceptable to say you did not like it, after all, we are entitled to our own opinions, but I also think you forget that when we first launched our site, we showed the world that the web did not have to be so uptight and serious especially after reading the almost endless interviews of well known designers talking about their theories, and serious mindset. This preloader was just something that followed suit with our style, to get a few "he-he, ha-ha's" out of people saying "HA! looks like an XP preloader, they got me", plus it did it's job. We did not get a single complaint about the preloader in the first year of our launch. But just like any other joke, once it is said more than once, it loses its comedic value. It is also ironic you bring this up. We are revamping our site with a new preloader which will be up this week. This will also spark the production of the next version of Who's We.
And as for attracting serious clients, you'd be surprise how many CEOs appreciate not only the creative, but the comedic value our site exudes.
I don't understand the beef you people have with Whos We. Could it be cause they get the clients instead of you? And who says everything on the web has to have a specific purpose. The day that happens is the day true creativity dies. Quite honestly, I don't think a good portion of you all have the right to complain as much as you are unless you are able to produce work of the same quality as Whos We.
