I know we have our fair share of gamers here, and would like to hear some opinions.
Thats rediculous. It's the parents job to teach kids whats right and what is wrong. Regardless of the society we live in and the things around us, morals and brains can be applied. I say kill them all so they can no longer reproduce. Parents need to stop relying on tv to raise their kids.
I blame the parents. that game is a Mature - read: 18+ - game... and they had it.
So the parent are to blame, but they wouldnt have turned out the way they did if THEY had better parenting. The blame game is a vicious cycle and it never works out. People have gotta start taking responsibility for their own action but with soiciety how it is at the moment its far to easy to blame the media, bad parenting, or canada. ;)
Hi everybody, when I was younger I played Mario. But I never really jumped on anyone's head trying to make them dissapear. You cant ideas from ANYTHING. Some may be inspired to blow up a building from playing Tetris, gta is just a loose game let's you do what you want to do. If they start limiting what we can do in the virtual world, I think we'll be taking a big step back.

Allas, it doesn't have much sienctific research in it, more just common sense, but it puts up some good points.

there is no vicious cycle. either you take interest into your kids activities, or you let the Playstation 2 and music television be your child's guide.
as much as my parents were then considered "nosy"... I appreciate them doing what it took to make sure me or my two older sisters knew better than this crap.
blame game indeed. the dumb kid can't take the blame for doing something bad, neither can the parents. I vote to remove all of the warning stickers from hereon.
I think that things like this are going to become more common, with kids of younger and younger ages demanding that their parents buy them the latest title, even it does have an 18+ sticker. Hey, parents are only human, and if it'll give 'em a couple of hours peace, maybe not too much thought goes into the 'what if...' part of the equation. Unfortunatley, I'm sure their regrets and those of the kids aren't much comfort for the family of the dead driver.
Shocking these occurrences will remain, but with over exposure and minimal guidance, you don't need a fortune teller to figure the consequnces.
And that they blame the game manufacturers etc? Ha, we'll see how far that gets. Could you say that if this succeeds, every drunk driver could sue the brewer/distiller of the intoxicants that they imbibed?

Gerbick, you and your sisters are now probably respectable members of your communities, and this is quite possibly due to good parenting, but why were your parent good at raising you? Surely your grandparents would have something to do with that? And the dumb kids did take responsibily, they plead guilty unless im mistaken. If parent are to blame then they could just blame their parent, if it is the media than why do only an absolutely minute amount of people that play video games become violent? There is no clear answer and there most likely wont be for many, many years to come.

naw, my grandmother was terrible. I honestly didn't know she was my grandmother because I never addressed her as that. still don't. my grandfather on one side, I didn't meet until I was thirteen. that's about the same time as my mother met him for the first time.
it's not the parents... anybody can stop a vicious cycle as quickly as they start one. it's all about what kind of decisions you make as an adult towards your kid's upbringing.
the kid's parents are just lazy pieces of crap that happened to have enough money to buy them a television, playstation 2, electricity, and that game, but not enough time to see what their kids were doing.

Hey, I think that there are many, many parents who simply do not know that video games are as violent as they are. They live in oblivion to the mass murders committed daily in their children's bedrooms, having been fed the stereotypical diet of Mario and Sonic. They don't offer more guidance because who needs guidance playing those types of games.
And then they have to find out what their kids really are viewing and I'm sure that it's all quite a shock.

Im tired of all these people blaming video games and music for violence. Millions of people play the same game and listen to the same music and dont go off Killing people on a highway or blasting up a school with a 22.
Theres always going to be a few bad apples outa the whole bunch so why focus our efforts on video games.
If parents dont want there kids emulating GTA then why not try teaching them something called MORRALS it helps alot a person with a good structure of morals is less likely to do crap like this. Even the gangbangers in Oakland arnt so stupid to go emulating a damn game.
Also the game isnt sold to anyone under the age of 18...
so if people dont want there kids touching the game to often DONT BUY IT FOR THEM.... And if your kid is smart enough to get someone else buy it for them then they should be smart enough not to shoot a cop in the Gonads or jump over the river off a ramp rideing a motorcycle because he did it in the game.
People should stop blaming the entertainment and start taking responsiblity for there own damn actions and maybee people in the future will relize its a bad idea to shoot a poor guy on his way back from a vacation. Maybee they will learn some morals and responsiblity and have a real life not a fantasy one.
Maybe the label is there to satisfy the law, not to have the parent read it. I think there's many a person who will confess to not reading the small print etc, if only because they don't notice it's even there, after years of practiced selective ignorance.Quote:
