volume pan question

i have been trying to get a volume pan slider working all day hehe, but it still doesn't work. i have tried different tutorials and even the one in flash mx.

i am trying to get a volume pan working the way people are leaning toward in their coding, by putting the code on a frame and not a movie clip, button, etc..

can someone post code that i can impliment? just make up some fake movie clip names and i can recreate them. thanks!

i am also having trouble for some reason making a horizontal volume bar, i've gotten verticle volume sliders working before, but wen i try to make a horizontal one it never works :( any ideas?
