I googled and pricewatched. Got USB to SCSI, USB to Parallel and USB to RS-232, but no USB to Firewire. Maybe it has to do with the fact that firewire can carry power as well, and it's a different voltage than USB?
it wouldn't be for that new 20 gig iPod you were talkin about in the other thread, would it?
well i got the 10 gig. and it doesnt come with the ipod dock thing.
which would be good to have.
so i can either spend 60 more dollars on the dock and the wire crap which will be only 40 less than the 20 gig that comes with all that stuff. so im pretty mad about that. so im trying to find a dongle or a wire for like 10-15 bucks hopefully that will make my usb work port into firewire. but to no avail as of yet.
and the main reason i got this was to tranfer files from my work to home, and 20 gigs would be nice cause i gotta lotta files.
That's why I bought the 20 ;)
For the extra $100, I get more storage and a dock.
well i got it off of ebay, than later realized all of this. :(Quote:

Research research reasearch. Is it new? Re-sell it on eBay, buy a 20gb.
yewah thats what im thinking about doing. he claims it was new but hes sending it in a cardboard box cause it was "damaged". but i plan on doing that. anyone wanna buy a new 10 gig ipod? only $280
sounds fishy.Quote:

Get a cheap USB2 pci card?
Or is that not the problem?
280 bucks!? Are you crazy? Why not spend the extra 20 bucks and get the new one?! Usually, "used" items, (it doesnt matter if it wasnt used, but as long as the box is open its used) go around 25% of the original price what they usually cost. Well, thats how it is at a local computer store that buys computer equipment around here.Quote:

you're saying a used or refurb item goes for 25% of the cost?
i don't think that's very realistic at all, or i need to start shopping at your store.
if you can find a refurb 10 gig iPod for 75 bucks, i'd love to see it here first.
regardless, apple has probably the best resale value in the personal computer industry; if you're basing your 25 % figure on usb hubs, then that doesn't really apply here...
