Is Koolface no longer around?
Last time I checked it wasn't up either, which was about a month or two ago. Bob probably knows more about this.
KoolFace is out of services since ... I can't remember (2002).
BOB knows better.
Last edit:
Sorry,I was talking about koolmovers.com
:D
I emailed Owen Lloyd that the site is down.
Hi guys.
Sorry about long delay in posting here.
KoolFace has gone down twice, for a couple or three days each time. First time was quite a while back, and eventually discovered that a bandwidth throttle had locked after a server upgrade.
Last time was recently, for trivial reasons, but I (and much of the city) was KOed by storms and offline myself for some days so I missed it.
It went back online immediately I did.
My apologies. :(
OK about that.Quote:

But I wanna hear your apologies for oyoyoy.com down for several months.
hehe.
Heya, how are you? :)
I've dropped oyoyoy completely. It was fun, but meaningless.
Some oyoyoy upfront sections and some behind-the-scenes services have been/are being transfered to various other sites. Some are just going to disappear.
The koolmoves section will resurrect about late march, early april, in a section dedicated to development tools on one of my business sites.
Around about then I will also have caught up on a truckload of work that built up during some personal down-time last year.
And so, sometime in late march early april ..
[be afraid, be very afraid]
.. I will also be back to bug you guys.
This is great, because I love hunting BUGS around ... LOLQuote:

p.s.
KoolFace must become the H.Q. for all KM users.
So ... show us your power !
:p
Hi Owen,, Long time no see. If you're having trouble with your hosting, set up a VNS link with "mydomain.com" or someone similar,, I can offer you some backup server space for the koolface platform. At the moment I have two servers running, one in Valencia and the other in Madrid and also some odd bits of space here and there,,, I could probably juggle the heres and theres and give you about 10 or 15 megas of permanent space if you're interested. Mail me. Cheers.
P:S: Don't leave it so long next time
Heya, still doing magic things?
My main issue at the mo is time, and until I have caught up everything is getting not quite the attention it should.
Ok, with VNS you have me stumped. Is it stealth redirection under another name, or a fallback/redirection if there is an error 404 on the main site? Or a change to the default 404 page that redirects to the other site but, like stealth, keeps the original domain name in place?
A backup or mirror sounds good, especially if it is smart enough to redirect in times of trouble.
Bob has and handles the domain name registration, if it needs to handled via the registrar.
lol. Back in March/April sometime and by the end of April you guys will be wishing I was gone again. Remember the questions? And more questions? And yet more questions .. ?
:)
Hi Owen. VNS (Virtual Name Server), it's a 404 redirect, so if your main server goes down or your bandwidth becomes saturated it'll redirect to a mirror. I've got about 35 megas (1Ghz/month transfer) of space on my broadband account that I use occasionally for testing purposes so there is plenty space with ample bandwidth there if you need it. The VNS is easy to set up (Free Account) and it'll have #1 as your main server and #2 as the mirror, It will then monitor the URL and direct all traffic to the main server, if that goes down for any reason it'll then redirect to the secondary server. Google "VNS free" for more details on it. Cheers.
Hiya,
Did a (very) quick check on what I can do, and I can't setup that sort of redirection from within my area of server, with my permission level.
Or maybe I misunderstood what I should be doing.
:(
If, as you say, Bob has the domain name, then it's a simple matter to set up the dns,s of "koolface.com" to a monitoring account (there are several free ones),, all they do is monitor the URL and if it is down in one place then they redirect to another,,, I'll have a search and post a list of the free stuff this weekend if I find time. Cheers.
hey i tryed to e-msil you a fun file for your website but says you mail is to full?
Impossible,,, you typed the address the same way as you type your messages on here. Cheers
