Menu Idea Problem

Hi everyone. Now, I'm sure that what I've done is not the best way to go about doing it, but it was the only way I could think of. I recently saw a menu, that had each link, once pressed, it swapped places with the left most link button on the menu. I attempted to do something like this, and the first click my "buttons" switch place, but then they go nutty. I was wondering is anyone might be able to steer me in the right direction. Or maybe just tell me what I did wrong, and that this AS thing isn't really for me :)

Anyone have any ideas..Or a tutorial you could point me to?...Google turns up nothing I can use...what I need to know is how to tween "box1" to "box2" position, and have "box2" return to "box1" position, and make it so "box3" knows what box is sitting in position 1....I tore it down and started in a new direction today with no results....looks like I'm regressing :(
