[beta] Network ball game
Hi folks.
Time to show my second network game in Flash. Unfortunately it requires quite low ping to be really fun and I guess people here are from all over the world. It wasn't so complex to code, probably a couple of evenings, but it took quite long time to find the final game idea. The graphics is kept simple because I wanted a small file (60kb) but it maybe change.

Very nice game! You managed to create fast paced gameplay yet preserve the strategic aspect of it. You may want to tweak the aiming though, as it is very difficult to make quick passes accurately (then again, that's probably the point). Nonetheless, very simple yet fun game, especially since you are playing real people. I might make a another, more specific reply to this post after I play it some more.

what method did you use to sync the players? LockStep?

I made the aiming difficult because I wanted it to be little bit slower and harder to use any visual line to make better aim.
To make it simple this time I skipped some logic. No hit detection in the movement and therefor I did a fast animation so you think less about it. I don't see any problem of that because its more about where you go than you want to block in the movement. Though if you haven't reach the position opponent/ball can still go through. All game logic (except the trigger of tackling) is calculated at server.
What I have seen on the net, its still quite few network flash games. I heard of electrotank, flyordie etc. but what is the best game you seen in this category?

The only one that made it to the big time (from my point of view) is tactics core. http://www.digisonline.com/tactics/.
Its the only multiplayer flash game that actually has players 24/7.

A turnbased RPG. Not my kind of game but maybe its fun for them who are into it. I like more arcade than strategy, though realtime is more or less quite intensive for the server, so I try to find some good turnbased ideas also.

Hasn't many that? I mean my game tankmania.com has 2000 unqiue visitors per day and sometimes up to 50-60 at same time.

'dinky bomb', 'voodoo' and 'oddballs' at www.gamer.tv were pretty successful, they appear to have been moved to another site now

ah well just never seen a good multiplayer game in flash before. i mean tactics core is great and everything, but it does'nt appeal to me. I said it was gd cause they got like a thousand members and like 500 registered clans so im assuming its big.
