[BETA] A Music/Beat Game
Hey, I havent named this game yet but you can test it here...
http://www.cubedstudios.com/Game.html
The controls are:
S = Red circle
D = Orange circle
F = Yellow circle
J = Green circle
K = Blue circle
L = Purple circle
(Regular typing position and think about the rainbow)
Now I know there is no music as of yet (Next beta) but I would still like to hear comments about the game and how it looks so far!
[EDIT] Here is how the stepfile looks:
Title=Epic&SongAuthor=ZeroFuser&SimfileAuthor=Socc r743&BPM=170.000&Gap=0&BeginnerStepfile=!100000000 0000000100030005000!400040005000!30000000300050004 000300020001000!20002000!6000600020002020505060606 0404040!200020404040!10000001&
Just simple eigth notes. It does support (1020403) 16th [1020403] 24th {1020403} 64th and <1020403> 192nd
[EDIT #2] I added blinking circles to the top of the freeze steps so that you cant see it move back and forth...

If you think about how your hands are when you type on a qwerty keyboard then s makes perfect sense: sdf jkl (Fingers: 432 234). And it also follows the rainbow of colors. Now these current steps are not easy. It takes a bit to get used to this type of game ( However testing this 1000x helps me get good ;) )...
There will be an option when this game gets finished to put the letter inside the white of each circle to help people out...
Thanks for your comments and lets get in some more of them!

I need better instructions on screen, my simple brain can't remember what key maps to which color. ;)
-
a bit of a blag of gitaroo man methinks ;)
But looks good anyway.
Add tunes, less colours...could be good
-
It would be much much (much) easier to remember if each color would be on it's own position (like height).
Red on the top of the screen
Purple on the bottom.
And flip it 90 degrees so circles would fall from the top. (red on the left --->)
You don't have any miss pressing so I managed to get perfect many times just pressing all the keys all the time. Put something to prevent pressing keys when there's no circles on the target... Like "MISSED" text or something...
-
I forgot to add a really low timing to it (180 ms away) which i will add later...
I would be easier to remember but then again I wanted to create a game where you cant watch the columns (DDR, IIDX, Pop'n Music, etc)...
Also, you managed to get perfect not marvelous (requires a 20 ms time difference). So getting perfect ever time is not going to get a high score by any means...
Again the main reason I made it single column and 6 steps is because I play Stepmania alot and I am also coding FFR R2. So to code another game with lets say 4 steps falling down split by columns would be to much like the latter...
Music should be in this weekend hopefully along with a stepfile that goes with the song...

Too confusing. If this were an arcade game, I would be able to look down and see the color of the buttons laid out in front of me, but on a keyboard, my only frame of reference is the letters on the keys. I'd suggest changing the circles to letters that corresponds to the keys. You can retain the colors. It won't be as graphically pleasing to hardcore graphic designers, but to game players it will make sense (it's a game, cater to the players first).
