How does it need to be written to be complient with w3c standards to embed flash into the HTML file?

I was having the same problem. I found this article which proved to be quite useful:

You can check whether your website validates here: http://validator.w3.org/

If you want a standards compliant website you should be familiar with xhtml and css.

Bobby is also a good site for checking site validity and accessibility.
