definite geek. I like tech, gadgets, science.
nerd? they lack social graces. I can talk to women in public without problems.
from my understanding it seems as tho the common standpoint is that geeks are more socially acceptable.
i always sorta saw it the other way around, in that a nerd could still go out, socialise, and intereact with the world.
i would consider myself a nerd morso than a geek, but thats under the assumption that nerds arnt totally socially inept.
You're the total opposite from how I've always viewed it. Call me a nerd, and I was up in arms.Quote:
nerd also nurd (nûrd) pronunciation
n. Slang.
1. A foolish, inept, or unattractive person.
2. A person who is single-minded or accomplished in scientific or technical pursuits but is felt to be socially inept.
Call me a geek, and I knew I was. Sorta like a geek was just more like a "smart dude", nerds huddled in corners and kept to their own. But you can be a geek in the middle of crowd and it'll still be cool.
my world is crumbling around me! it turns out the terminology i have been using is infact not accepted by others unanimously.
so at present you wouldn't consider geek to be a derogitory term but nerd is?
and also, are all nerds geeks, or all geeks nerds or neither?
Geek: Likes Star Wars
Nerd: Likes Star Trek
That how simple it is :D
out of those two, i am more of a geek. BUT, you totally forgot dork, which is the third part of the question - sort of like how they say that back in the day you were either a fan of the beatles, the stones, or dylan. this is the same way - you are a nerd, geek, or dork. i definitely have a lot of dork in me from being a skateboarder. dressing funny on purpose, doing johny knoxville types stuff, etc. but now i'm mostly a geek...
Neither.. I punch nerds and geeks! Thats how I know I'm not one.
Denial is the first step...Quote:

[QUOTE]dork n.
Slang. A stupid, inept, or foolish person: “the stupid antics of America's favorite teen-age cartoon dorks” (Joshua Mooney).
Vulgar Slang. The penis.
