Masked MC not showing...

Ok, I know masking should be simple, but this is kind
of driving me nuts.
[Although, I'm nuts to begin with.]:yikes:

I have [in layers back to front]:
a movieclip called "glow"
a movie clip named "gypsy"
a movie clip named "msk" < no a >
a movie clip named "trees"

So, I want to mask "gypsy" with "msk",
for an effect.

I used:
gypsy.setMask(msk);

And when played, "msk" and "gypsy" do not show.

["msk" is not supposed to show, but gypsy is supposed to
be revealed where "msk" is. And both don't show up.]
What's up with that???

Are you sure you msk movie isn't empty ?
It only shows the parts of your masked movie where something is drawn on msk.

Yes, I'm certain, big ol' red circle inside of it.
Maybe I can put the "gypsy" and "msk" inside a parent MC.
That could work...

I'll see what I can get done, this weekend.

Ok, fun file zipped and attached...
[It's removed now...]

[Note: For those that go around grabbing attachments. This is not working. Please do not use my artwork. I'm not giving an option to use it. I'm just trying to be polite.]

The yellow rectangle is gypsy [a place holder of where it will be] and the red circle is msk.

I don't understand why this is not working. Do I need the script on all frames?

Go to your msk mc, view the frames inside it. Doing this you see that you have one shape named s2. Access its properties and turn of 'is a mask'. Now it should work.

The problem is that you tried to make a mc a mask that contained a shape that was already masking something else. It doesn't work that way.

Thanks, I'm kind of embarrased now...
That was left over from earlier. :crazy:

I thought I got rid of it. I don't remember seeing it last time I looked.
But, I must have made a mistake right after making that a mask, and did not save the changes.
So, I just forgot it was there...
