Audio Check
Hey, please check the music on my new portfolio site: The Hipper Element
The music changes from the main menu to the various parts of the site.
I want to know if anybody else hears a slight popping sound during that music transition.
If so, any suggestions to correct it?
Any other feedback is welcomed.
Thanks.

No popping here man....
Can i say that the preloader took along time to come up on my Broadband. It was black for about 10-20 seconds. Could you have something to say that the site is working and loading (like please wait) until the preloader comes on?
[EDIT]
Oh, and it's very smooth, i like it. Is the splash screen required?

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I am tweaking some details. I agree the preloader is kind of slow to initiate...the whole initial loading sequence is one of the final things on my list to overhaul before I "officially" launch the site.
I am also going to try and tackle a preloadable shared library this weekend and a few other things to get my loading as fast as possible.
The splash page is needed (and ugly at the moment) because I launch into a new window with no menu/address bars and stuff. I also want to give people without the Flash 8 player or on dial-up a chance to get oriented before entering the site. In real life I don't care about people with dial-up so much, but still, I like the immediacy of having that initial "ok I'm here" feeling. The splash page is the last update to happen on my list, and it will eventually have a nicer image and a little news/updates thing.
Thanks for the sound check...I think my headphones are hypersensitive or something. I can hear my hard drive spinning and my mouse moving around the screen and everything! Weird, but interesting. I just wanted confirmation that nobody else heard it. :)

i didnt hear anything either... however, i accidentally clicked on macromedia link to download the player and lost your site...
i would have it spawn a new window...

Yeah, I would have it in a new window too...my bad...that was an oversight, thanks manny!

hey man my biggest complaint is the audio is only 16k correct? If you bumped it up to 32k it would sound waaaaaaaaaaaay better (but that is comin from a music guy). The only issue would really be how much audio do you have and would it make it a dog to load...
Anyway, looks hip

JWin...good ear man! I had forgotten to change the publish settings for the audio...there was something I couldn't put my finger on that I didn't like before and that was definitely it. Sometimes you get so into the scripting everything else gets a little hazy.
I'm working with relatively manageable loops, so it didn't really kill me too much to put them to "best" quality at 32K...it added 200K or so to the over-all file size, but I think it's worth it. I'm going to be optimizing the load times for the rest of the site this weekend anyway, so I'll more than make up for it.
The bass is a lot rounder now, the highs are crisper, and the whole mix is more spacious. I'm a music guy as well...but I don't have a trained ear for fidelity. I'm a percussionist though, I just hit stuff. :)
I am glad you stopped by. Thanks again!
