CAD 3D and Flash8?
A customer wants a "jack configurator" as
a part of a company selling solution.
He got the 3D CAD drawings which should
be dynamically assembled whilst configuring
the jacks.
I told him, that it would make no sense doing this
in Flash due to the lack of 3D capabilities.
Is there any other opinion about this amongst you?
Currently we will go for an additional java applet, loaded
on top of the flash application.

Have you looked into using Blaze 3D? It basically provides a Java wrapper around the Flash player to enable realtime 3D, and provides extensions to the Actionscript API to control it...

Thanx for the tip.. i'll look it up. Sounds interesting.

Actually it is exactly what we need.
There is even a "head-configurator" in their Showcase. (But without textures. Hmm ? )
Thanks for the great tip, deadbeat.
[Edit]
I tested a bit around with Blaze3D and were remembered
where to look at a girl first *sigh*
The list what is not supported is really long:

Hardly any dynamic text functions.
Besides, Flash8 won't work at all.
But it might be good for some other purposes...

I would look for Director 3D Shockwave
