This just happened last night.
I clicked in the little search box [ ] on the toolbar and it crashed.
I thought, ok... no big deal a restart should fix that.
It still is happening.
Do I have to reinstall Outlook 2000?
Anyone ever have something stupid like this?
Everytime I go to certain webpages or start my computer up, Microsoft Office 2000 tries to configure itself for no apparent reason. When I start my computer up, the same thing loads, but Norton Systemworks doesn't "support that repair feature."
I don't think Microsoft's ever made anything that works 100%.
That isn't a Microsoft problem..it is a Norton Problem. I have the same exact issue and it started the day after I installed SytemWorks.Quote:

I don't have Norton... McAfee here.
Try repairing (in the uninstall option)
Optionally, use a restore point to get back any changes you might have made.
Finally I would recommend trying in Safe Mode and running a virus scan after opening Outlook.

sounds like a plan... I also notice this happens from time to time
McAffee Anti-Virus got turned off, photshop is reset, have to redo color settings, prefs etc... sounds like I did get hit with something.
Let me know if I can help some more. I could do remote assistance if you are totally stumped.
Outlook 2k was crap. 2003 is waay faster.
Outlook pissed me off one time to many, so now i use Thunderbird.
funny, i run outlook2k3 on every computer here at the office and i dont have any program problems. just user issues such as "i cant find out how to put my signature in the message"
Yea, it's really been good to me.
Been using it for years without a problem... just one of those things.
It happens with any program.

Does Thunderbird track, appointments, e-mails, Task (to do lists), mutliple folders, rules for e-mail (ie. put jow blow's email in joe blows folder)?Quote:

outlook express on the other hand blows ass chunks

from a working/organizational perspective Outlook is far superior to thunderbird...especially when you hook that sucker up to a server and the whole office can communicate better with meetings, requests and so much more. Thunderbird is just used like Outlook Express...perfect for a standard mail client. But who knows what newer versions will be like.
well, as a groupware application, i prefer lotus notes.
for calendar, i'm waiting for 30boxes to come out, it's supposed to be for calendars what gmail did for mail.
And due to nature of my work, i have to handle all workflow and group communication with web applications.
