FLVs, netstream.close, and safari?! help, going nuts!!

Hi, netstream.close() doesnt stop the download of progressive FLVs in Safari. I ran into this a year ago and from what i gathered it was a known bug and macromedia was working on it. I cant find any recent news on the topic and was wondering if anybody please knew a solution. My clients industry is highly mac based and unless someone watches each video from beginning to end they will inevitabley have multiple flvs dowloading which really messes with the overall performance. I'm kind of going insane over this. I would really appreciate any help or insight. This seems like a huge problem and im surprised there aren't tons of posts about it leading me to believe that everyone but me figured out a solution..anyone???
