Anyone use Freehand MX?

Don't laugh.... I am stuck using this for now.

Anyways I am having a problem with the stupid 'blend' tool. I have looked at everything in the manual and online and I can't figure out where I am going wrong... it's so stupid!!!!

I have 2 simple rectangles, same width, different heights... I just want to make a 'blend' basically a step and repeat... so I select the 2 objects, do the blend and it makes it fine with the default at 25 steps.... so how do I modify it now? I don't want 25 steps... changing the steps for the selected blend in the object panel DOES NOTHING!!!

You should be able to set the parameters for your Blend via a palette, I thought. Isn't there a Blend window via the Window menu item?

Yea, when I do the blend the Object pallette displays a blend object.
Steps: 25
Range %: 3.8461 | 96.1539

Type disabled
Order disabled

So if I change steps to anything it just reverts back to 25.... it changes nothing!!

naw, you're supposed to change it before the blend. if I remember correctly, it's just like that in Corel too.

you have to set the blend, then do it. to alter it, you have to break the blend group, then redo to the original objects.

like I said... I'm doing this off memory. I've avoided Freehand as much as possible.

Yea, that's what I am thinking too... but the only way I can get any blend settings on the object panel is to do that damn blend! if I ungroup the blended object the stupid object panel just goes back to 27 objects or whatever...

double clicking the blend 'tool' does nothing either... I am stuck with the default settings... this program is bunk.

You are able to change it afterwards - in fact I think you can only do it afterwards. Close down FH and restart it - it sometimes loses the plot entirely

Yea, that's what everything I am reading about it seems to say... 'just change the settings in the object panel'... it doesn't!!

I restarted my whole computer, only running Freehand...
new document,
draw 2 rectangles,
select them -> blend -> change steps... nothing....

Have you looked on the MM site for a program update?

wow, now I don't feel so bad for disliking freehand. I got the whole studio suite tried freehand and closed it after 20 mins never to be opened again.

Also apparently to use the 11.0.1 updater I have uninstall it altogether....

Interesting ... mine says build 11.0.2 right below the freehand mx logo.

FWIW the blend works just fine in my version. I'm running it on a mac, but I wouldn't think that matters.

Must mean I am running on 11.0 maybe?

I don't know... I am so pissed right now though... now it wants my serial #, but the serial right off of the about page it says is 'invalid'.

I am feeling mighty ripped off right now.

because I don't own Illustrator... yet... remember?
