How do you do a contract for a quick internet job

I've been getting my feet wet here in the freelance forum. I read here in the boardroom that a contract is how you set up a job right. I just completed a job where I didn't have a contract, which it would have been nice to have. It wasn't a bad experience, but a contract would have helped to clear some things up.

I looked at the article and template contract at scottmanning.com. How do I use that for a quick online job? I know that some of the people I'm working with are not in the same country as me, so mailing a contract would be bothersome. I don't have a fax machine, so that hinders things too.

So my question. What should I do for setting up a contract for a quick job, or one that the contact is far away?

Faxing works. Scanning in a copy of the signed contract works as well.
