Long Clip Gets Cut OFF!

Hi,

I have a graphic that is 13,145 pixels wide.
(by 330)

I am trying to scroll this graphic in Flash as a Movie Clip on a 650 x 330 stage.

For some reason, when the clips _x axis scrolls to about -8,200, the graphic disappears and all you see is white... if you continue scrolling in that direction, the white will trail off where the Graphic should be....

Also with the clip on the stage if I just type in the x and y position it gives me 'Invalid size and position.'. So I am guessing I have exceeded the Maximum movie clip dimensions?

Any ideas would be appreciated...

The movies _x variable is displayed... watch what happens when it hits -8200 and continue scrolling until it trals off... thanks again.

Oh, and someone else suggested I try masking the stage, which I did, but it didn't help.

Flash doesn't like any object more than 2800 pixels wide or tall. I'm surprised it worked at all.

Did you mean 8200?
or is it just a coincidence those are the same digits my clip craps out at?

Well, here's a possible solution:

Does your swf really have to be 650x330?
Maybe you could just make the dimensions in the SWF be 65x33, and shrink everything to a tenth of it's original size.
Size matters not; in the HTML, just treat the SWF as if it were 650x330.

If this hurts the image quality too much, you could try having two images which are stuck next to each other during runtime via ActionScript.

Coincidence. The 2800 pixel limit was well know back when MX was new. You'd think they'd fix it. If you tried to tween a long object more than about 2800 pixels, it would get those smear marks on it. Never heard of a fix.

I think I am just going to cut the graphic up into sections,
load them up and assemble it via Actionscript...
see if that works out.
