www.msdewey.com
wow.wow.wow. just awesome.
Now that's just downright wicked!!.... Nice find silentweed!!!
Thx
powered by LIVE SEARCH.
I tried to 'search' for it.. I couldnt find anything about a FLASH API for it..
anyone?
update: (found this)
http://search.live.com/macros/default.aspx?FORM=BJJK
Why should there be any Flash API?
The natural flow is to keep the interface as far as possible from the logics, and Flash is interface. A search form doesn't require any application interface.
It looks pretty simple to me. There is a video player, a search form and a manager. When you type in, the server chooses what video to load and sends in the search results...
The girl is charming and I managed to get the "190 pounds, loneliest person in the world" clip!
Hehe..
;)
Anyone tried typing in "yo mama"
haha
also try: you will never rule this world :)Quote:

The results spat out are then presented in a really limited fashion. There are reasons Google stormed to the top of the search tree - speed, accuracy and ease of use.
Ms Dewey just reminds me of the flash sites circa 2000 that inspired the term 'Flashturbation' (boo.com anyone?). These sites give Flash a bad reputation.
The preloader was cool but the site didn't load for me. =(

I'm posted this link in the cool sites forum, not the practical/most usable site forumQuote:

I think the site is 'cool' witht he fact that you can tell time & effort went into it.. the video...the search..etc..
Do I think its the BEST, most practical? no.. but seems like a great proprietary application that can be used to BRAND or keep in-house. :)
yeah i agree whipers, cool sites are more about giving ideas to people about how others are pushing flash to the max, and what is possible...u take what u can from them ... it's not always about practicality...
I hope you are not suggesting that a site can't be practical, usable AND cool.Quote:

I take your point about inspiring people, but it's important with sites like ms Dewey that their limitations aswell as their qualities are highlighted. There's more to be learnt from discussing the strengths and weaknesses of a site than just saying 'yeah, like cool, wicked site'.Quote:

Silentweed is more perceptive about this, what he's suggesting is that Ms. Dewey be treated as a 'proof of concept' that demonstrates what can be done, not that it will transfer into a fully usable, popular website with staying power.
May we call it "advanced design"? That is the kind of "head-in-the-clouds" projects that are developed to a superficial scale from specific teams in a company, to analyze new perspectives and frontiers, inspiring the work of designers and engineers at work within the company.
Such concepts needn't be binded by hands-on rules, like ergonomy, connection standards, marketing attitude etc.. That's the point: it's just like brainstorming, you have to spit out 10 stupid ideas to get a sensible one out. And 10 sensible ideas to get a good one out. But if you don't let yourself go, you ain't going to get the stupid ideas out, thus preventing the whole thing to work.
This is an advanced concept, with no purpose other than inspiring minds.

no more need to even continue talking with you.
Go back to 'google'...cause everytime you go there..it gets 'cooler'.. (Im sure)
cause we all know only good speed, search & reliability are what count for a cool site.. LOL... (too funny)
Who mentioned IDEOLOGY? All I'm advocating (NOT pushing) is that people recognise the strengths and weaknesses of a site like Ms Dewey, rather than blindly falling before it in worship.Quote:

For once we agree, I did laugh at this line, loads. Except I laughed at how pathetic and pitiable it makes you sound. I'm sure that in real life things can't be that bad for you. If I'm being charitable I'd say you willfully misunderstood my post to score a point and have a cheap laugh.Quote:
