This is actually pretty cool... apparently Scorsese used a lot of X's in "The Departed" to mark impending doom and homage to the 1932 version of Scarface.

They put the Departed back into theater around here. I think I may have to go see it again.
Loved that movie - the best I've seen in ages.
on a innit-a-small-world type note, after I first read this thread, I found a video of some guy hacking a Wii to that punk-bagpipe song from the film; must be the Bostonian in me, my blood starts pumping whenever I hear it...
Has anyone seen the original Chinese version of this, Infernal Affairs? It's a very bland, plodding story. Amazing to see why Scorsese did with it - actually added some drama. :D

I was just going to post this link. Nice find, Gerbs. I normally dont give a crap about Oscar nonsense, but if they don't give it to him, all his fans (myself included) will be in a fk'ing uproar. And, as usual, Marty will sit there and graciously congratulate whoever wins ahead of him, like the true gentleman he is.

I seriously can not find a fault in this movie. I mean, it's not perfect... but damn it's close.
When she's listening to the cd she has the headphones on the wrong way around.
That means no oscar i'm afraid.
I've seen the Japanese version japan. It follows the typical pace of japanese cinema imo. The American version was a lot better for us because we can relate, that and Scorsese is a conductor.
Anyone catch that Damon's wife played the wife of another undercover in Running Scared?
bazooka. robbmcaulay. robbmcaulay. bazooka.
Gerbs, the only thing I didn't like was the rat on the banister at the end; a little too on the nose for me. (plus, everyone from Boston knows our rats are twice that size and constantly foam from the mouth)
Japanese version? Did not know there was such a thing. Do you happen to remember the title/stars/year?Quote:

Again I agree with you all, damn near perfect as one can get to such a film. Definitely deserves movie of the year, I loved Little Miss Sunshine too, but The Departed can head shot LMS back into their dysfunctional issues.
