I LOVE it!
Can you lose? When you get hurt the blinking effect is a bit too much. Try making him more visible while hurt.
It's nice,
I only think the background could be a bit more white/ or the overall contrast brighter.
My daughter really wants to make a game together with me. She's 5 years old, her programming skills are kinda brief. But I know she has a good perception on gamedesign, she really helps me out sometimes with a good idea, and she prefers jayisgames over sesamestreet- or nickelodeon-site.
This reminds me I really have to start working on the project with her.

I do think the graphics could stand to be a bit crisper, it looks like you put them in with a digital camera instead of scanning them in. Needless to say, it has a very original and fun art style.

Yes, performance inconsistency is odd when you consider the graphics are bitmaps and the code is AS3.0... and that there's nothing really heavy going on.
Kianis, you've got some aliasing on the edges of your graphics, and some lighting problems on your scans/photos. Maybe it'd be better to use a crayon texture for a Fireworks or Photoshop brush and draw the scribbles with a stylus instead?

It's a bit contradicted to the underlying philosophy of this game, but yeah indeed, I loved my ZX81 too when I was in kindergarten :)Quote:

The unstable fps is weird, I'll look into that. But you're missing the point - we made this game in a few hours in the middle of the night at a LAN-party. We used what we had (cellphone with camera)
in an exercise to "just make a game" and to bring the crayons back ;) Isn't that so indie you can almost smell it? : D
Walnoot: I would love to get my younger sister into programming, got any tips on how to introduce the whole concept in a fun way?
