converting eps image to button

Hi everyone,
im new to this forum. I need some help, im working on a flash project for work and im stuck... Im working with vector images... i imported an eps image into flash and i need to convert the image to a button... but when i convert it and test movie all i see is a bright red square in place of the object i converted. but if im viewing it from the timeline it looks fine. anyone have any idea why it does that? what am i doing wrong? thanks for any help you can give me.

What kind of button, a movieclip button or an actual button?
