Just got a call from a buddy just finishing up some military training. He's looking to unwind at a big gathering of some sort this summer before he has to get serious full time.
I kinda doubt burning man is his scene nor do I even know if it's any fun.
Any ideas west-coast-ish where him and some friends could drop a grand and catch some eye candy?

Everytime I go to LA, I tend to stay somewhere like the Avalon... The Standard always has something going on. But with that said, I got good people in that area right now... lemme see what I can find out.
