Porsche website menu?
Hey guys
I wonder if you could help me, ive tried many a time to work this out simply but cannot quite get what the effect that is desired.
The website is http://www.porsche.com/uk/
Now the menu looks simple, but effective.
If you study the 'Models' menu you will get the best view.
When the models button is hovered over, the menu pops out next to it, and so on and so on.
My Problem:
I have no problems with design. Its getting the effect to work, I have used fireworks javascript menu options to get a very similar effect.
When the button is hovered over, then menu bar pops out just like on the Porsche website...
BUT
This is where it goes wrong, once you move onto the selection in MY menu the transparent background disappears.
The way I am making the menu work is by having a hotspot on the models button that ovelaps into the open image area, and this changes the background image to have a transparent column on it.
As soon as the curser is moved onto the selection in the sub-menu (over the hotspot still) my background image changes back to normal, because the pop out menu sits in front of the hotspot area and so doesnt pick up the hot spot behind it.
Any clues as to keep this background image changed? or if I can make the whole column with the image seperate? Or anything??
Sorry if thats confusing, but it is quite simple when viewed ;-)
Thanks
Nick
