Man what an important speech.
Finally he starts to address what I've been wondering. I think I'm actually in the mans corner now. I understand they'll tell us what ever we want to hear and it remains to be seen if can act on a bit of it, but even if he shoots for the moon, we gotta land somewhere.

Hmm. I found it boring and predictable. It wasn't anything more than a compilation of the same leftist talking points he's been saying for a year now.
I put it in the same category as the other commercials I typically Tevo past.
I can't wait to hear what you will invariably rant and rave about when McCain says one or two words.
After this bore-fest, I am not sure if I will even watch that. I'm sure it will be the same format.

I couldn't believe how I was moved by the Obama speech.
It was amazing.
I think I'll pass on watching the republican convention.
I'm going to watch. I need to have my yearly quota of lies and bull**** surpassed in under 3 hours. And then have that lead me to a good night's sleep.

Now if you average his speeches with his performance on the saddleback forum which isn't pre-scripted, he comes out about average.
I agree. Some people seem to inflate the importance of a good speech. It's as if they think that being president is somehow captured in a moment of talking rather than 4 or more years of making decisions.
The importance of a speech is made even less significant in vetting a president by the increase in availability of information. If all the points a person makes in a speech have either been stated nearly verbatum before or outlined already on a web-site, what is really being gained by listening to it? I don't think it's politics at that point. It's entertainment. It's the fast food of politics. The McBama with cheese value meal.
That said, I don't even think Obama is that great of a speaker. He is charming and likeable to me in interviews. But, when he gets behind a podium, he starts using this phony, inflated drone voice. It reminds me of the guy at the beach who tries to keep his stomach flexed the whole time.

Hahaha, sounds like SOME people are a little bitter that their candidate can't inspire the people, doesn't have any family values, has no new ideas, has no clue about the economy, has absolutely no plan on how to pay for his proposals, is a flipflopper with zero integrity, and is about as likeable as a Uncle Ruckus.

Don't worry, you guys can still go find some of the great and truly inspiring rightwing speeches on youtube from the 1930's... some of them even have English subtitles. ;)

I think its good that Obama can talk well. The idea is that a president should be able to inspire the people to action. A lot of the time, these president/prime-ministers only worry about speaking well enough to get people to vote for them, so we'll see how this turns out. Obama being who he is, I'm sure he won't be given much room for messing around. The way he was talking the other day, made me worry for his life already.
I really don't care how well they can speak. I don't care if they can talk. As long as they can properly run the country.
There's a difference between talking and walking.
How do you read a country? Is it like brail?
Wow, judging by some of the posts here it seems that being a great orator is a negative trait.
Public speaking is a skill and a useful tool for any politician to have. To captivate audiences, whether they be the american public or other nations of the world, is one of Obama's big pluses. It's a far cry from the Bushisms we've all had to endure over the last 8 years.
