If you go see this, bring a pillow! It's good film making, but there is soooo damn much of it and ultimately, pretty flat on message. I simply could not wait for it to be over which made it hard to appreciate. It's Brad Pitt's Forest Gump.

dude. you hit the nail on the head man. I saw it last night, and about an hour and 10 minutes in, i was literally screaming in my head "JUST F'ING END!!! JUST END!!!!" and then another hour and 10 minutes later it was still going...ugh!
Overall, a nice film, but jesus was it long.
something im interested in seeing, but more then willing to wait for it to come out on dvd. id much rather prefer a recliner to the seats at the thearter
That is weird. Everyone I know who has seen it have all been praising it. They all make the long run time comment but overall say it is well worth seeing in theater.
It wasn't as bad as the two first posts claim it is. But it's not the best movie ever either. If you go in and expect a Michael Bay movie, then yes, it is slow.
One thing they could have cut from the movie was the whole Old-woman-on-deathbed-telling-story part, which they stole from Titanic. Except the woman was more dying here. That part was slow, interrupted the movie, and it was impossible to hear what she was mumbling. If you get it on DVD just fast forward to the real story, and skip all the parts with the woman taking forever to realize who her father is.
All in all, the trailer for it sums it up pretty nicely, and skips most of the boring parts.
well, 5 minutes in, you know what's going to happen. and then they just drag it out to the point of exhaustion over then next 2 hours and 36 minutes.
When i was analyzing the entire movie, there were 3 parts to the movie that could have been cut out that would have made NO difference to the ending or even character development.
1) The dying woman interludes - ihoss explained it perfectly
2) The russian woman escapades - could have been cut to 5 minutes and explained enough
3) The father coming back - really, it changed nothing and provided nothing new in the way of changing a point of view
i mean, i don't want to be all down on the movie. I honestly enjoyed it, but was just WAY too damned long.
There were actually people who clapped at the end. I said aloud something to the effect of "Are you fk'ing serious?"Quote:
