Spinning Earth with Various locations

Hi firstly i would like to say hello as this is my first post, secondly i am having a bit of a mental block on how to achieve an effect.

My client would like to achieve something like the globe found on this web site http://www.cundell.com

My stumbling block is getting the locations to work in the way they do here, i can easily get them to work if it was a straight forward movie but am not sure how to allow for the no linear searching, in overwords not clicking through the list in a particular order.

any ideas?, is it reasonably straight forward?

it is reasonably straightforward, but it looks like you have a lot to learn beforehand :)
