In the mouse wheel version, the downwards direction goes way too fast.
I think it's a cool idea, just a little too sensitive for what youre trying to do. It's hard to get even one hit, and my microphone gives a little static so i can't go all the way to the bottom.
Perhaps the user's paddle should follow the ball to an extent but the smaller movements are controlled with noise? There should be a little setup section where it tells you to make no noise and then make a lot of noise to give the paddle a proper range from top to bottom.
Just some thoughts...
