Real problem

I have flash and I can connect to remote servers.

can somebody show me a FREE remote server i can put onto my website and it will work 24/7?

I've tried red5, i've tried AMFPHP (which made no sense)

SOmebody PLEASE HELP!!!

1) I think it shut down

2) it didn't seem to install because of some JAVA problem. i tried to fix it but it still didnt work

Ummm... You think it shut down? You mean the project as a whole? Or the running instance on your server?

The project did not shut down. It's thriving quite well. So well in fact, that it's pushing FMS out of the business slowly but surely.

And again, I ask, what type of server are you trying to install it on?

I am trying to make a remote server on my site...
Or if i have to I will use MySQL, the programming language that I have no idea how to "create a table".

I got the red5 thing it asks for a certain java program. it provides a download link which still works and I install it etc then it still says the java problem.

So yep, I'm looking for a free remote server to use. thats all.

You mentioned that you're trying to install Red5 on your server. What OS is the server running? Do you have a fully dedicated server? Or are you trying to install it on a shared server?

OS: Apache 2.2
Fully dedicated server (if that means its me who controls the files and password, admin of the site, etc)

Can't you recommend a remote server that is easier to install and doesn't involve me needing extra programs?

Apache isn't an operating system. It is actually completely irrelevant to Red5. An operating system would be like, Debian, CentOS, Red Hat, Windows, etc.

And no, there is no such thing as a free remote server. Nobody just gives up bandwidth and server space for free.

Your best bet is to install it on your own. If you have root access to the server, you shouldn't have any issues at all. Red5 is actually pretty easy to install.

I don't even know how to respond to you, dude. Yes, I've asked several times what OS your server is running. That makes a difference on how Red5 is installed. Apache is just a piece of software running on your server. It's called a server because it serves up files via HTTP. Red5 and the like use the RTMP protocol. Completely different port and process. HTTP is port 80, RTMP is typically 1935. They can exist together. It's just like running two different programs on your computer at the same time.

And you're getting terminology all mixed up. Yes, there is free software for a real-time media server. That's what Red5 is. Flash Media Server is a commercial version that costs a good chunk of change.

And no, it's more than just an upload and call it a day. Depending on the server, you may need to compile, install, and launch the process. Again, this process varies depending on the server, hence why I've asked you several times. If you could tell me, I could point you to specific instructions.

We use and recommend Red5. Installed it with latest java using this tutorial.
