I want to design a website, need some ideas. I thought maybe something like this site martial arts improvement in your strength. what do you think?

what kind of website? and you should design the site based on your taste and not others...just sayin'

Zaccabo, that can be quite interesting too you know, hand sketched designs. I've seen a few of them that really stands out.

Anyway, eternall, what kind of designs to choose/create depends on your subject/topic. As for your referenced site, it's gd enough for its topic.

Websites design seems quite good to me, but if I were you, I'd would try changing that martial art picture (the one where the guy is jumping), because it seems a bit exaggerated. :)

I think the background colour is a bit too strong personally. Because your trying to sell something (well.. assuming you are) you should try and get your visitors (buyers) to focus on the things that are the most important - which in all cases will be the products, add to cart buttons, logos etc.

It's a nice site template, but i think it not clean,the color should be more clean

eternall, what sort of services will your website offer? What kind of functionality will it need? If you are not very experienced making websites, then adding an option for a shopping cart is not going to be realistic!

Maybe you could make a simple website so you understand the fundamentals behind html and css.

Change another image, the sea background don't match.

IMHO the picture makes a good impression because it is a bit exaggerated. The template is not bad, but it doesn't look like one you will remember. I would put the right side column upper. I would also play a little bit with the fonts.
