Anyone know how to create this effect?

In the upper left corner, when you rollover "The Levitation Project", the letters all scatter, then come back when you rollout. I have been able to recreate the scatter using tweens for each individual letter, however, I know this is not the method used by the original author because when I rollover the movie clip, once a letter tweens away from the cursor, the rollout function kicks in so it doesn't exactly work. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm fairly new to flash. Thanks
