I'd love to have a chance to play around with one. I still have my first gen fat PSP laying around.

Let's see how outrageously Sony prices it.
for me it just doesn't make sense to carry around a portable when i walk around with a cell phone.
Now that I have a smart phone with quite a bit of storage for my music it isn't as NEED TO HAVE as when I had my original PSP but I'd still love to have a high end portable gaming system for long trips/bored. I doubt I'll get one for a VERY long time but I'm still keeping my eye on it.
Once it's hacked and can run a stripped down version of android and not the locked up sony version I'm sure it'll be awesome.
If it comes in at $299 - pass. If it comes in at $199 - then somebody else at Sony has decided to price it.
Sony loves shockingly high prices.
$299 no doubt.
$299 seems low for sony, id expect closer to $399
Scary rumor from Japan puts it almost at $450.
With the specs listed what do you think a reasonable price would be?
there is no reasonable price which is also close to cost effective.
I think what Nintendo did for the Wii was amazing, and it should have started a couple of trends.
1.)Older tech, not a huge leap over the previous gen, as a result a really low initial pricepoint, with the ability to go lower over time and maintain profit
2.)motion controls
Sony sees a big rock, and their first thought is "Oh yeah, when i can make a Bigger rock" I mean yea awesome you can put a crap ton of tech into your portable, but its still going to sell less then half of what nintendo puts out.
NGP has the power of a ps3, multiple touch screens, more buttons then you can shake a stick at 2 thumb pads and a bunch of other crazy ****, its going to cost a lot of money for the consumer, and more then likely sony is still going to initially sell them at a loss. I still get irked when i hear about "we charge them so much because they will pay it" line about the Ps3.
Nintendo took their previous tech, Bumped it up a bit, added 3d, and will sell it for probably half of the ngp, and most likely make a profit day one.
Nintendo 3DS will cost $249 - more than a Wii. There's supposed to be 3G enabled and wi-fi only versions of the NGP. The rumored ranges in price from $499 to like $449 respectively.
I'd rather this start at $299, honestly. And even then, I'll not buy it.
