Did anyone really think the government was going to shut down? It all seems like a big song and dance to bottom anymore. There's no sides just the fleecing of us. I would like to understand what really went down an what it really meant to Americans besides scaring hard workers like my wife into thinking we might not be able to afford child care next month.
John Boehner threw a tantrum and cried a lot, while Obama filp-flopped and the Treasury printed some more currency in order to foot the bill.

everyone of them lied about something different to every one of us. thats why i hate politics.
GOP didn't want to fund clean air or planned parenthood, so they did what they typically do - argued against something that's less than 1% of anything worthwhile.
Dems argued for something that's less than 1% of anything worthwhile, while typically doing what they do by blowing things out of proportion.
All in all, I've crafted new criteria for whomever may get by vote again.
Thanks I guess. I'm just trying to get an idea if there was anything of REAL consequence in danger. Only reason I'm asking here is because I don't trust any news sources anymore. Guess I'll start comparing and drawing my own conclusion.

obama's plan cant get anything done. republicans stop him at every opportunity. It's less about the people and more about getting their way.

I agree, however I blame both Obama and Pelosi for the first two. Whilst I blame Obama for the current situation. He should know better by now. If your tactics are failing then change your tactics.
On another forum we had a discussion about impeachment. Personally I'm all for it. Republicans would never impeach Obama he's too useful as a punching bag. I doubt they would want to go toe to toe with Biden.
