I am having a difficult time finding tutorials or examples on creating or developing apps for facebook using ONLY as3.

The new Adobe ActionScript 3 SDK for Facebook Platform API, fully supported by Facebook and Adobe, makes it easy to build applications that combine the strengths of the Flash Platform.
Looks like a good one, haven't tried it myself.
