As many of you may have heard by now the Australian team does not have any official role with the site anymore. We leave on very good terms with Alan Meckler and Internet.com without whom this site would not exist. That doesn't mean the crew won't be hanging around the boards from time to time and it will be great to send nasty emails to the webmaster when something doesn't work :).

I just hope that the internet.com team respect the way the site has developed and the quality of the content and people on it. Good job you guys though, much respect and we hope you enjoy your multi million dollar penthouse apartments etc ;-)

Thanks for the nice comments, but such praise should be for the whole team I was proud to be part of. Contrary to popular belief FK was not nor ever was our sole activity and much of our effort was for pure enjoyment. Our firm, TurnAround Solutions, that Trav, Jezza, Mark, Tommy, jml, Phil, Sam, Kirsten, James, Sinkers, Al, and Chris all still work for continues to do well. We may even do a Flash site now. LOL Before, we never wanted to do any commercial Flash work so we could not have a conflict of interest while running a Flash community. Pity no one in the firm knows any Flash ;). As always Mark has a few speculative ideas that we are looking at :)

FK is a pretty simple site to run now, just point to view submitted content and click to publish. Internet.com staff will do a fine job as I can confirm their mouse skills are as good as anyones :). I think it will be beneficial for FK as they work in the US and can co-ordinate matters just as well and even better being in that time zone. The "FK Originals" will still be on the boards.
Regardless, FK is not about us or internet.com, rather the people who come here, contribute, share and learn. It still must be one of the deepest verticals on a particular area of expertise on the net with a world wide user base. Pity non Flash users can't share and communicate as well as we do here.
I'd really like to know what other knowledge/community sites people think are as deep as our FK.
Congratulations on the work you guys have done in making this one of the best resources around, I hope internet.com will not make too many changes to the site in the future.
Hope to see you lot on the boards in the future though :)

I see this as a great opportunity to compare the administrative skills of the now defunct Aus sector to the slick, sophisticated and "anything is possible" approach of the Americans.
Its time the laid-back hang gliding approach to such a collection of leading edge "designers" was given the serious and focused management they deserve.
And God help em if they fail.

Thanks Scills, I think John will do a great job, and you'll all come to like him. I hope we continue to see the Au crew around these boards--as many have pointed out, it just wouldn't be the same without them. I look forward to seeing this site continue to grow...and yes, we're currently working to improve the site's performance. The changes will be kept to a minimum, and the community will continue to be a strong influence in what we do on the site. I do want to point out that the Australian mods/developers, definitely have done a great job to begin with. I just hope that a switch in power will not drive them away. That would be a shame.
anyway, I'm just sitting back, and seeing what's gonna happen. I'm hoping for no big changes - except faster service/servers.
all you guys have done a great job - i am hoping, as you are, that the community can stand on it's own two feet. i really think it is the people that made this such a worthy destination, and feel pretty confident that we can all keep it that way :D

you lot have done a mighty fine job here, the only reason i became a designer was because of flashkits inspiration and reasons i have become better and better in webdesign is also because of flashkit.

and when can we have a welcomming party for the U.S crew?? or are they more of a we run this place but we don't participate kinda bunch???

FlashKit is Brilliant. has been and probably will be for some time more. I think the admin people have done a sensational job in running...
The thing that sucks is that for FK to survive they had to sell themselves out to internet.com (if I am wrong I am sorry but this is how I see it). First the job section was lost, the boards have gotten slower... I dread to think what else is going to go down the loo as time goes on.
The aussie team have done such a good job - the new team will have to do a lot to convince me that it is in the best interests of FK.
I was so proud to say that FK was run by aussies... now it is just another american thing. sorry if I am not rejoicing but I see this as a step back rather than a step forward. This place is more like a bunch of friends who hang out - and now, the new kids have come in to rule the school, so to speak...
I am just going to sit back and watch for a while... and hope dearly that FK and the new admin group do the best for it...
where is the american FK base located? What city/state?/
The forums are great. They are the heart and soul of FlashKit, and they pretty much run themselves. I don't think the Yanks can screw this up :)
The big change I've noticed at FlashKit is how dull the the homepage has become. There's nothing interesting there anymore, just "Today On Internet.com" something about a new submission form, and removing something else, more boring content from internet.com and then a big whitespace because there's no content!
People come to FlashKit for Flash-related news, not to see 500 links to other Internet.com sites!
If internet.com turn FK into a dull, corporate site people will drift away. This kind of site needs a committed, enthusiatic webmaster like Fennell or Trav to survive.

P.S. I forgot to mention recent newsletters. Dull! Dull! Dull! Much as I found the details of Fennell's day-to-day existence *fascinating* (not) :) at least it was entertaining, and it was a nice personal touch. I just delete the FK newsletters without opening them now.
