I'm not sure how I missed this interview.
Jon Stewart on the O'Reilly Factor
Seems to have been pretty good (I can't find a video of it. If anyone knows where it is, please link). My one complaint is O'Reilly calling the viewers of the Daily Show "stoned slackers" not once, not twice, but four times. :p
And I guess O'Reilly's returning the favor in a few weeks by appearing on the Daily Show.
I'd love to get the video of that. From reading it , it looks like Stewart shut him both up and down pretty well.

Stewart's not a true political commentator, he admits that himself. It's weird to see him on an arch political show like this.
I guess it's a reflection of how influential his program has become in the last year. He's certainly a smart, and funny, guy but it's a bit of a twisted up world ain't it.
Oh God no, Stewart did not shut O'Reilly up ... I don't think anyone is capable of keeping his mouth shut.
I wouldn't say that they're competitors. O'Reilly has the highest rated news show overall ... although Stewart's show might be the highest rated political show amongst 18-25 year olds ... who often don't vote ... but in this election, they are the swing voters (note: not Swift Boaters) so it's a point of interest for O'Reilly to get "their" perspective.
Can't really say Stewart's show is "influential" to the point where it'll motivate a change in the election. It makes younger people more aware of politics, but not really active in them. The shows still running things are the Factor, Larry King, Hannity and Colmes, Real Time w/ Bill Maher and Hardball.

Oreilly is an ass. I truly dislike him.
Like how he called himself one of the 3 most powerful people in one statement? Oreilly isn't good at humor if it was a joke, and I hate him even more if he actually believes he's powerful.

The Ten Questions of the most recent Time magazine feature Jon Stewart. It's pretty interesting and all considering, yes, he's not even a real "pundit".
Jon Stewart is more insightful than people give him credit for. I saw him on Larry King defend his views very clearly. He is a fantastic interviewer and that is not an easy job. I watch his show mainly for this reason. That and Steven Colbert & lewis Black.

I'm getting a little sick of these stereotypes. I've been working full time since I was 15 and working full time in my chosen profession since I was 17. And guess what, I've been a stoner the whole time. I just closed a business I ran successfully for 4 years and I'm probably one of the top artists in my city. Slacker!? I think not.
If you're a stoned slacker, you were predispositioned to be one. The problem, once AGAIN, lies with the parents and what they condone.
The stat was 87% are stoned slackers, I'm guessing that anyone posting here would fall into the other 13%, so you're not being stereotyped, technically.Quote:

Especialy yesterday's interview with some scatter brained CNN reporter who accidentaly sent O'reilly a letter asking him for donations to the Democrats....O'reilly had him for toast....

Another thing I hated about Billy in that article was that percentage. Did fox news actually go around interviewing people and giving breathalizer tests to people watching The Daily Show? Of course they didn't. They probably asked like 5 people and figured that the other millions of people watching were the same. If they can do that, then I can successfully state that because 4 of my 5 friends hate Bill O'reilly, that means that 80% of all people who know of him hate him...
I also love the way Billy changes topics extremely fast when he starts to be proven wrong or starts to lose an argument. God forbid that someone actually gets to speak their mind on his show without his supreme censorship...

Yes, Bill surely does like the 'tough' interviews. The only thing more infuriating on that network than O'Reilly is Hannity.
Of course they're both commentators, not reporters, so they're not held to any kind of journalistic standards.

Reminds me of many politicians.
Some people like low brow entertainment masquerading as "in depth" discussion, while others laugh at it for what it is, purely entertainment. A little like most TV news and current affairs nowadays, it's a business pure and simple, and bottom line is it's all about the ratings, however they can be gained.

People who don't watch O'Reilly with an open mind often take to the hype liberals say about him. I'm an independent just in case you ask.
O'Reilly is conservative on some things (the entertainment industry, economy, military) and liberal on others (environment, gay unions) so I can't really say he's a bomb thrower like say ...

O'Reilly is mostly fair, he's constantly saying "well, let's be fair and give equal time" or "let's stick with the facts and not partisan rhetoric".
Of course, he's not 100%, but he's more fair than most other commentators I've seen.
O'Reilly throws out tokens of fairness. He's a button pusher. Likes to get his guest riled up so he can make fools out of them.
I have a hard time deciding who acts more like a jerk, him or Hannity. If I were a staunch conservative I'd be embarassed to have those 2 representing my viewpoints. They make Limbaugh look reasonable.
We'll see exactly how fair he is. He's airing his interview with Bush today, tomorrow and WednesdayQuote:
