I keep hearing all the rumors about the 4G and Verizon coming out in June and I'm in the market for a phone right now.
I either get a Droid with Verizon and wait for the 4G or get a 3GS with AT&T right now.
No matter what is announced, people will be disappointed.
An update for the the iPhone platform, an announcement about the newer iPhone with dual-core CPU or something... multi-tasking... and a whole lot of boredom.
Or maybe it's about some sort of amazing tablet that changes the way we think about laptops, e-readers, newspapers, magazines and the internet.
But no, you're right, it'll probably just be a dual-core iPhone.
After reading around I think next week will be the tablet and they'll wait till june to announce the iphone. which sucks because i'd love a new phone sometime soon.
there exclusive agreement with at&t doesnt end till june so no point in announcing a verizon phone Iphone till then.
im always underwhelmed by these apple conferences, its always the same **** with a tiny change that should be been in the original to begin with.
Doesn't anyone know if this will be streamed on quicktime and an official time slot?
ARM Cortex A9 could be a probable suspect. The Cortex A8 is used now in phones like the Nokia N900 for instance.
Wow, that's pretty cool! I love how ARM processors are getting more and more popular, even for larger devices like netbooks and (maybe) tablets. Hopefully they will replace the dated x86/64bit processors.
Predictions:
Announcement of the end of AT&T exclusivity later this year (announcing it early would have a chilling effect on android handset sales on other carriers)
iPhone OS 4.0
Tablet thinger (Engadget already has what look like legit pics)
Publishing platform for ebooks
Anyone have a decent link for live updates?
http://live.gizmodo.com/
They (Gizmodo) seem pretty certain that a Tablet is going to be announced. Would be fun if that wasn't the case :p
I've never owned a single piece of Apple technology, but I'm kinda excited now. Anyone else following the liveblog?
I have been checking out Engadget and Gizmodo. I only own and ipod touch because I got it for $40 off someone. Otherwise apple is to rich for me :)
Yeah, Lots of friends have apple products, but they are too expensive. I'd rather pay half the price for a laptop with Windows 7, and I'd much rather have a phone that I can hack and play with, even if it's not multitouch (or touch at all). I seriously doubt I'll ever need a tablet. I just can't see what the use of one is.
I have the ipod touch and it's jailbroken- opens it up quite a bit.
Engadget has a good live blog
haha, Gizmodo's server just failed. I got a wordpress error message :p
And apparently it's not called the iSlate, but the iPad...
wow iPad....bad choice haha
aaaaand I'm already bored with it.
just doesn't seem feasible to hold and use at the same time, Also it looks wicked fragile, as if it would comepletey explode if dropped
Awkward holding + easily broken = not something im buying.
Guess on price? $999?
Holy ****. $499? Not that bad actually.
Wish it had usb port though so you could hook up an external. Obviously will never happen.
Also wish it was full on OSX so that photoshop could be installed...
I'm sure it will work like the Air which allows you to share DVD/CD drives from other networked Macs. Besides, isn't the push going towards apps in the cloud rather than locally installed? This thing seems to be right on the cusp of that effort. I think they killed it. Nice job, for a change.
Thats the problem with it though. How would you use photoshop on it? You would need a keyboard, and then you have to move your hand to the touchscreen all the time. That would be annoying.
No camera is odd.
Why would you need a keyboard? They announced a dock/keyboard anyways.
There's a dock and a keyboard. I'm sure bluetooth is on board too.
usb on bottom?

all over.
Dude - what's with the need for USB? Does your iTouch have it? No -- it has the proprietary Apple iPod connector just like this thing does. The dock can probably accomodate charging/USB/external speakers, etc. This thing looks like it's about 1/4 inch thick - probably can't even accomodate a USB-sized port.
This looks to me like a perfect way to break into the business users market (which they have next to zero penetration.) They are fully saturated in the creative market. Designers/photogs/video peeps...they've hit critical mass there. This one puts them into the on the run business person's market. I can see this being a big hit in that area where smaller/lighter/faster is always the mantra.
Very interested in picking one of these up. It won't be for a good while so probably a 2G :).
What do you all think about no flash support? Or at least not shown. No flash in safari still? bah.
here you go, USB-fanboy...
iPad Keyboard Dock
The Keyboard Dock is a dock for charging your iPad, integrated with a full-size keyboard. The dock has a rear 30-pin connector, which lets you connect to an electrical outlet using a USB Power Adapter, sync to your computer, and use accessories like the Camera Connection Kit. And an audio jack lets you connect to a stereo or powered speakers.
I will say no built-in camera is a definite no-no. I'm sure that saves some space for rev.2 though, in typical Apple fashion.
My only interest in such a device would be being able to use it like a wacom with a screen. I wanted a hand-held imac, not an oversized ipod.
Oh and should I refer to my iphone as an iPad mini now?
Better than calling the bigger one a maxiPad.
Honest question to the photoshop die hards out there. Would you really want to design wacom-style on a 9 - 10 inch screen? That's really small for any level of detailed work, I would think...
