Happy, you're up! I made ya a present ;)
Ill be home tomorow happy. If you have it to me by then I will be able to publish this bad boy...
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D
awseome job everyone!
alright thanks for the graphic TheWaste. I'll try and get it done tonight. Gonna be a challenge for me with Mrkvavle's image but i'm sure it will look nice.
Dont forget, if you are the last person, creating the final volley, the last 150 pixels of your image will need to be the first 150 pixels of the first volley of this rollCanvas.
Dont take my word on it but I think that is correct.
Might be a good idea to ask if you are not sure...
3P
Happy Pixel still does a full 650pixels of his *OWN* work. -- check out waste's attachment.Quote:

I would imagine that the 650 pixels "includes" the last 150 pixels for the loop.Quote:

If not, his would be the only image over 650 pixels.
Like I said, I dont know for sure, but it would be good to find out.

As the diagram indicates, happy makes an image that is 650px of his own work. It doesnt include either of the volleys within that 650px.
I said it was a simple transition onto silverx2's volley because it doesnt have much detail required to transist into it, and allows for a lot of freedom when considering a style.
thanks for asking anyway 3P
Stick a fork in me i'm done! The Waste I pm'd you the image. So I post the last 150 of my image in the volley's thread?
yeah, post that 150px in the volleys thread so everyone will know you're done.Quote:

i've been pretty much waiting for that thread to hit '20'.
wastey - what's the ETA for the unveiling?
i can't wait w00t:cow:
Lads and lasses, I'm pleased to announce that...
The Rollcanvas II is complete!
I just got home, and I can now compile this thing into a flash file. It will probably take me a couple of hours, so sit tight!
I'd like to thank EVERYONE, from our posters, to our spectators, for being understanding when it came to putting up with my crap, and (usually) putting up volleys so quickly.
Thanks for playing!
See you all soon
YEAH EVERYONE! way to go. Im ready for the grand unveiling!
Hey Waste. Im working on a scroller for this also, but I dont think it will be done for a day or two.
I know you have something in the works, I just started this mine for something to do.
Cant wait to see this thing. As usual GREAT JOB everyone...
3P
wow, I hadn't popped my head in for a while and what do you know.. it's done!!. :D
worry about a scroller later waste, just get it up asap... every seond is taking a few days of my life. :p
at last :) . i can't wait.
just to increase stress, im almost done. just gotta add the finishing touches (load screen and intro screen)
yeah, i would prefer the same style as last time.
a scroller would, IMO, take away from the hugeness of the image.
but hey, do what you feel...
the sizes are ultimately the same in flash and HTML...
The flash file by itself, (no images) is 8kb... and that is mostly due to actionscript and small graphics. With the rollcanvas added, its 4mb.
well anyways im done. it was a complete nightmare to add everyones bios because I had to format them and such, but its almost ready to go.
im gonna mail the webpage containing the flash to gerbick as soon as he gives me his email addy.
hurryy!! Make sure there's an HTML version (similar to the first one) so as not to take away from image quality -- flash normally does that.
so like, what the hell do you guys want? HTML or flash?
I remember when I made the html version I got heaps of people asking and pushing me to make a flash version... now people are telling me to make it into HTML...
im mailing gerbs now, and going to bed. see you guys in like 8 hours
I dont care either way; I just want to see it. Just post whatever you have done whether its HTML or flash.Quote:

LOL Waste, dont get your panties in a bunch.
People are just excited to see this. If Im not mistaken we went through this same thing on the first roll canvas.
We waited this long we can wait a bit longer.
I myself would like to have it in the same format as the first one.
That looked and worked great. But it would be nice to see it in a flash format also. The flash format is more of a novelty, and although it can look great, for an image this size, the first showing would be better in html.
3P
again, i think the HTML is actualy a better format.
the design was great, it was easy to use, and easy to share.
i really can't think of anything a flash version would ADD...
it seems like it will just have worse image quality, as well as take away from the hugeness of the project (the width).
without getting to scroll it yourself, you sort of lose the perspective.
although, the flash version does one thing the HTML cannot do - LOOP!
(although, you could always just add the first image at the end to show the connect.
ACK! I can't stand the suspense!!
don't thing we are being pushy, just anticipation can come off that way.
we (and i'm realy only speaking for myself but others seem to have a similar frame of mind) just want to see it as quick as possible for a start. just get it into a raw, unpolished html file and i'll be happy.
but the flash thing would still be a goal for em after the original looking was done... its realy just a matter of getting it up as soon as possible. :)
when the last version came out, lots of people asked me to make the flash version, which I assumed was the preference. now that I have actually gone and made a flash version, people tell me that a html would be better. which means I wasted a whole afternoon making this flash viewer when a simple html page would have been prefered...Quote:
LOL Waste, dont get your panties in a bunch.
I understand that people are anxious... but you could at least make up your minds before I get to actually putting work into this...
Waste; my hardworking friend...
do whatever you like. Whatever comes first, whatever is done first - just release it! It'll calm the masses.
If you alrdy have the flash done, RELEASE IT hah :) and the HTML version will be a piece of cake to do since you alrdy have a template for it right?:D
If the HTML is done first - release that and work on the flash if YOU feel like it.
You've done a lot to keep this going man.. its YOUR call.
irf.
PS: Waste, you've done a lot -- i want to thank you.
I'd prefer html first, and flash when you get a chance.
I've already e-mailed you my e-mail addy, waste.
I'll be out of the loop by tomorrow afternoon, but will host this as I did the first one.
i appriciate the gratitude :)Quote:

gerbs, im at school at the moment, and my files are at home. Ill be home in approx 7 hours and will mail it to you then.
ill make the html as well. I'll add names but probably not bio's... but the bios will all be available via the flash version...
that good with everyone?
still not sure why you don't take the path of least resistance:
use the exact same page as last time, bio stuff and all...
???
whatever you end up doing, the hard work is appreciated!
agreed. Nobody is going to be disappointed either way you go.Quote:

there. both the HTML and Flash versions have been gmailed to gerby.
Once again, I didnt bother to put bios on the HTML version because it would be too much screwing around to do the formatting considering it took me about 2 hours fixing the array that held the bios in flash. grr..
So this is like the diet layout compared to the last one, as its a lot more vertical space freindly. Its slim and hopefully easy to figure out.
If someone wants to add the bios, they're welcome to take the page layout and go right ahead... its not hard... just time consuming...
and again: thanks to everyone who submitted to the rollcanvas, and thanks to all our lovely spectators.
holy damn. TheWaste, both are awesome. You've exceeded my expectations in the execution and in the way you've managed this. Thank you.
