my two cents.

I guess I was hoping that the site would be simpler, cleaner, than V3, rather than more of everything. It has the dirty look of a site like taig kris, when I was hoping for the clean, suggestive lines of a skyworks inc. I was really suprised to see so much information on the screen.

The other suprise was the colour, it's just not a colour I like - not without more relief certainly - it adds to the dirty look and all in all it's too dark for my tastes, or rather there isn't the contrast that I think it needs.

The idea of this theme/story running through the site was interesting, a 3d style with a bit of anime thrown into it, again not something I'm normally big on but the demo reel was impressive. I suppose my reservation about this is that I'd like to see 2advanced as a design studio, I'd like to see a demo reel that showcases their work rather than creating an ambience and background story for their site, good though it is. I have an aversion to hype and there is a bit too much of that here, though it is tied to the background story.

I was talking to someone earlier and I made a comparison with theory7.com, both these sites have the same 'footprint' size and both are designed to display a lot of information, though their purposes are quite different. In my mind theory7 succeeds as it focusses on the information without overwhelming the user; there's too much 'smoke' on the 2advanced site to see the fire... hmmm, lousy metaphor. I can understand the attraction of creating an ambience and a 'theme' to the site that ties into the demo reel, and I do think it works, but I guess I'd rather they hadn't :shrug:

I've visited the site three times in the last few hours and I like it more each time, I think it will be a site that grows on you and I hope they supply enough regular updates to the content, it would be nice to see those case studies and maybe some writings from within.

not sure I understand what you're saying, but I am not and never have worked with theory7 on anything. Nevil's a friend of mine but I would be able to contribute about zero to his site, he certainly doens't need my help!

Its definately above v3, although the vector-based layout is still a dominant element they added a lot mor ps generated details + other tricks (like their ebeer effects here and there, also their 3d work). Its nice to see they came up with new transitions that don't need any 3d app or ebeer type app to create. I think that's a big plus. I read earlier posts saying that 2a v3 is better...
Probably what they mean is that when 2a v3 was launched it had more impact, but this one has so much more elements than the previous one, and although it didn't create such an impression you have to see this is an improvement over the last one... this one has so much more elements to it.

when i first viewed nevils site i felt welcome.
i actually wanted to view the site and i spent quite some time wasting my hours pressing buttons and looking at all the work there.

the new 2A site just doesnt make me feel invited.

Actually i take my statement back, this v4 absolutely SUCKS, pointless little graphics everywhere, no real content, same old stuff but in dirty-ugly red color.

Finally seen the site and boy, does that thing have plenty of bugs =/

1. Click on audio preferences, you can choose but the audio listing never comes back

2. Click on something and the music stops playing, I've clicked palyed and tried other songs and the animation for it playing was there but the music NEVER came back

3. The center with the CG, it looks VERY amatuer. There are jaggy lines up the wazoo and you can clearly tell the 2 background ships were placed there later on. Not very good work. Also, the jets on the little ship things look very poorly done like an animated gif with 2 frames and both are slightly different to give it movement. It just doesn't fit into the picture.

4. The waves are way to slow and when you look at them, it looks like someone got happy with the distort filter in photoshop.

I would rate the other areas but the server they are using is utter crap. They probably have a 10mbit deal from a place like the planet instead of having an actaul gigabyte limit which means it's output is very slow. That or they figured putting a mirror up wasn't a good idea.

When I clicked on another area, it appeared that there loading function doesn't work at all. I clicked experimental (music went off an wouldn't come back like I said before) and the loading screen shot to 100% but looking at my DUMeter program, only like 1kb was transfered during the time it showed it was laoded and then it just sat there flashing at me.

I do like the red but almost all people don't like reading alot of flash sites and there is just too much crap on there.

Version 3 was by far, superior in design and look. I give this version a 2 out of 5.

I didn't like it. In my opinion, if they would have mixed their new 3D elements with the calmness and coolness of V3 then it would have blown me away.

Is it just me, or does this site lack the EJ style? I wonder if he even had a hand in this website... (considering he must have been really busy running an entire Design Firm and setting up that grand opening show... not much time for web design there).

I've read some posts concerning the relevance of the Demo Reel to the website itself. I'm not sure, but I think it may have something to do with the "engaging the future" idea... the guy in that little ship is ... well ... engaging the future ... lol, nevermind.

2A has always been my favorite, ever since I saw V2... which was actually the reason I got into flash (and found flashkit :) ). I remember that 2A was always revolved a sort of ambience. To me, V2 represented the words "futuristic birth" and V3 represtented "corporate heaven".... but V4 gives no inspiration.

I'm not saying that V4 was bad... its actually a great site... but every time i see Whos We, Fantasy Interfaces, Theory 7, and 2A(v3) I get the feeling of inspiration. When I see 2A v4, I get nothing. For that reason, I don't like it....

I don't like the fact that I had to wait until 3am for this. I ended up just going to bed without looking at it cause the server was taking a crap.

I just was able to look at it today but there server is still taking an extreme crap.

I would like to see someone from 2A post here and talk about the bugs, like are they going to fix them? If I were them, I'd consider putting version 3 back up and just removing version 4 for a good while until they got it all sorted out.

im sure most of them are all hungover right about now...
