images are 700 pixels by 350 pixels in this thread.
you're quite a bit over.
My bad, it's gone
all you had to do was resize it.
Resize that pic and slap it back up here Ro0ke.. Id like to see it.
or should we just continue from Fiddlestick5 image:confused:
I can do it really quick after school today, but it'll be about 3 or 4 hours.
i agree, i would like to see it too, so slap it back up :DQuote:

Hmm, well I deleted the PSD file, so I had some trouble cropping the image and resizing it. Oh well...

Hehe, Great image ro0ke. Not sure what problems you had or what you had to crop off but, it looks good to me :)
Keep your eyes on the road.

That's a great image larry...I'm not really partial to the blurry scan lines you've got going on there, but that's my only problem with it...I love the whole linkage between the sign, the glasses, and the road....wonderful return!
Thanks, ondraedan. I had a good time with it.Quote:

I put the lines in originally as aa kind of optical illusion that would make it hard to look at anything else. Then I rethought it with the interchanges. The lines are a little overbearing, I guess. I'm still not very good at creating a nice lush background so I went with what I'd already created.
OK, a quick experimentation

I do like that image its a real change in my opinion to whats normally posted, love the organised choas feel to the image.
nightwish:
you shone through yet again
like the toned down look with the burst of white magic and a touch of grunge only on the top... nice :D
Sweet, nightwish!
1stbite, thanks! That was my level best. Still, I'm not good enough yet to match what gets done on this board on a daily basis. I don't really have my own style yet, so my stuff is going to be all over the place.
Just having fun. :) Doing a little Photoshop is much more exciting than the writing I do all day.
save_larry ~
For a writer, you did a darn good job with that last image. :) As for creating lush backgrounds, you're not as bad as you think. ;) I agree that more could be done with the scan lines such as perhaps selectively erasing a good part of it using a nice grungy brush. Let it add to the overall texture, but not dominate it. Also try using a few more layers to build up some depth.
Overall though, great job! :D
nightwish ~
That's a beautiful thing you have there. I love the colors, the subtle use of grunge and the clean typography. Nice goin'! :)
Thanks, RUSHvision. That's good advice. I do love the deep, lush backgrounds that good designers come up with. I'm going to have to practice a lot more before I can pull that off consistently. I haven't even tried to do grunge yet.
I'm slowly learning more about how to use Photoshop. I'd say I know enough right now to be dangerous. :)

Bring on the vectors people!

excellent piece label. i really like the colors.
Thanx Kaco.... I wasnt too sure about the colors at first but it didnt come out as bad as I though it would. :)
Indeed, that volley has some pretty cool colors, but thats not all, pretty cool illustration dude!
Very very nice label. Great job with the colors and composition...my vector work never turns out good, it always looks like its missing something. Yours came together nicely. Sweet image!

Hi, I wish i had the time to be honest, I now have a 16 month old daughter + family and recently my Dad passed away, so I spend as much time as I can on my mums farm spending time with her, fixing things (currently spliting 3 trees into logs) and thats alot of logs.. and also I have to work to keep the cogs going round :)Quote:

Pretty boring and crappy :S :)
<edit> I have just realised how crap it is lol
at least you put a volley up, seen plenty out there that visit the arena and never post anything other than critisim of others work.
might have a go next, ;)
Hi, 1stbite is right there are hundreds of people who view and dont post, jump in!
making images needs practice, the more you do the faster and better you will become, also there are some very talented people here and they will no doubt help with concepts and ideas.
the Arena as i see it is not for top end design ppl, but a training ground, where we share ideas and art.
(climbs down gently from the soap box) :D
If you do want to post, just do it
we all started off being crap, well I did :)

*less talk, more images ;)
Thats maybe what I needed, some trendy overlays like gerbick has :)
naw, your's was good. But it just wasn't coherent. that was the only thing that sorta detracted from it, imho. but I tend to stick to monolithic images... one or two subjects, and that's it.Quote:
