Of all the years I wasn't involved in this, I totally should have participated this year. I mean with all the "LOSERS" out there I may have actually gotten to round 2 for a change.

No, you're using culture to state that's the reason why people might vote for themselves in an area where culture means absolutely nothing.
The Arena was created for artists. I don't personally care where you're from; vote for the image that's the best. It's in the rules of the March Madness. It's also why early on, I removed "who won" from most battles and kept it fun.
People tend to hold onto the wrong damn things in this area. Don't vote for the opponent out of obligation; that's your own choice.
You want out? Fine. I'll remove the image myself. Remember one thing, it's your decision, just like voting for your opponent each and every time was your decision. After so many years of the March Madness and other things of such, to have it boil down to petty items like culture - which you may/may not know that much about, not enough to make a blanket statement - and other things. Folly.
Above you have a brit, an aussie, a canadian, an american, a malaysian and somebody from portugal posting. And that's just a sampling of the talent here in the Arena... and to just get behind one idea that you want to prop up as such on morals, culture, location, selfishness, whatever adjective that fits... so be it. Justifications exist for whatever reason you wish to apply.
Anybody else wish to be removed? A lot of no-shows and now this.

Be angry with me if you want to. I don't feel it is sportsmanly, I don't think its respectful to your opponent, and mostly I feel its exceedingly arrogant.
Also, up until this point, I had the most votes in my bracket, and I had them WITHOUT voting for myself.
So before anyone thinks that I'm "whining" about this because I was losing, you are VERY much mistaken.
It is a competition. Vote for the better image I say. If you feel strongly about it, don't vote for your pairing at all. If you were paired up with someone that produced utter crap you are honestly telling my that you would vote for it? That goes against what this competition was put together for in the first place. Progression of skills and showing of the best of the best. Not lets not scold our children to hard now they may retaliate. .
Nats. What is the deal. Seriously this is to have fun not hold grudges for years because others opinions don't match your own.
It's one vote you're that upset about. I'm not upset at all; I will defend my position because I've not dragged culture into it. I've not dragged anything else into it but one simple thing: Vote for the best image.
That's all I've said. I'm having to withstand a lot of unnecessary commentary about culture, selfishness, sportsmanship and other novel ideas that are mere justifications to maintain a position that's hinging on only one singular thought; one vote by that creator of one image out of 32 (that were to be submitted) was done in a manner you disagree with.
Your honest issue is that you've done something based on your own inner justifications and yet you can not break out of your egocentric view to see that this area is all about which is the best image. Not how you're raised. Not where you're from. Not who's the most popular. It's simply tied to just artistic merit.
We've had people create sockpuppets in the past just to vote themselves up higher. They were caught, we silently got rid of those opponents. There's a lot the mods deal with; but we give a lot of faith to one thing... that people will vote for the best image.
Nothing else is needed. I just will not tolerate being personally attacked by somebody that will continue to hide behind miscellaneous reasoning as to why they feel the way they've decided to feel based on their own decisions when the best decision would have been to take notice that we've always voted for what's best. As for the rules, I handle those. Lefteye is handling this contest without flaw - great job to him. As to the contest, we just have kept it simple... vote for the best image.
That's it. No additives. No filler. Just vote for the best. Anything else, that's all up to you. Your decision is your decision. I just will not be a target of your vitriol when honestly it was you that made up your mind how you saw things and how you would conduct yourself. My influence is only in the rules. My influence on this area is just that we have fun. And to have something so petty - one vote is all you're upset about - disrupt things so much... so be it.

It was not the vote in my bracket which is causing me to do what I'm doing.
I am and was using mine as an example of that.
Im not going to lie to you will, you didnt even listen to me earlier, and as much as you were accusing me of putting words in your mouth, you were twisting mine. I am in tears about pulling out. I was REALLY looking forward to this years MM. A lot of the people who were rooting for me are angry with me for pulling out, but at the same time they understand why I've done this.
You can call me petty Will, thats your prerogative.

Sorry to see you go Nats. I'm with O...please reconsider. Such a strange reason to bail on something so worthwhile. And what an odd time for an ethical argument...just don't vote for yourself, and stay with us.
And for the record, my image is better than my competitors, so I'm voting for myself...and I feel fabulous about it. :)
Bleh, I just avoided voting in my bracket. I assumed that was the thing to do. If I saw ctranter vote for himself, then I'd give a vote for myself. But, it's not like it matters at this point. :p
It is 1 vote. That is less than 10% of the vote. If someone wins by such a small margin, MAYBE then it has an effect. Most of the pairings are currently a landslide, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Hmm. Well, the only thing I have to say on all of that is:
Whenever I witness a conversation that, on the surface, doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, I tend to look for what's underneath it. I get the sense there's something additional under all these words, but I don't even have enough of an understanding of how or why this got started to comment on what that could be. In the end, though, there's nearly always something of the past tied into it, and I hate to see anyone drop out of this for any reason since the mods are so careful about handling this competition fairly (and do an excellent job in my opinion).
So anyway, what I came ON HERE to say is "excellent images thus far, everyone."
There's some really amazing stuff so far, and I can't wait to see the next round.
ok, due to the fact that it was still delivered, I placed K2 up for round one since we had so many people that didn't deliver. thanks image maker of K2, I'm allowing this one late image to be posted, but I will not do it in round two.

I want to apologize for not being able to submit by the deadline. I had scary incident with a couple of my friends over the weekend. They're all fine, however that consumed my weekend. Again I apologize. I wish everyone good luck and now I'll wait until next year.
