hey mel nice work! cool seeeing all the pics in the works, how they keep looking better and better each time. :D so I take it modelling can be pretty tedious? I've only really worked with stretching out boxes and stuff to make pianos. hehehe. ;)
Pretty in Punk is featuring Resee, a girl. haha. :D (does anyone else get obsessed about drawing certain characters like me? drew tons of her and another char, spencer....) then there's school to contend with.. :(
hey guys...sorry for not posting so long in this thread - i check it often, and love seeing your guys' work - but dont always have time to reply to compliment.
anyway, a little add:
my friend is in a hardcore band called Starts with Silence - im doing a tee design for them - and would love some crits on my pic :)

Hey fospher,

doodles? wow! cool work mel.
Hey mel, i had an idea, but your collab is requested. Can i ask you to draw a warrier for me, something like the dude you got on your website (v3) on the main page? like the same size, the same body structure, clothings kinda like that ones, and a blade? just in pencil, shades if you want.
My idea is to get that drawing and make a partner for him (a girl :D you know i like drawing them). So i wanna see what comes out when i gotta follow your style guidelines to make my own character. You think that's a good idea?
you betcha argo! Sounds fun. I'll try and get something soon!

Chook
hello art people
this is a drawing of the main character for a new game im working on.
Obviously a ninja game. Just wanna see if anyone's got any comments or critiques.
by the way how do you get an image in your post?
not on seperate page like this.
thast a really kool character should look really good ina game. To make your image show up on the page use the [IMG] tags fromt he options and type the url of the image inot the box. The image will not show up if its on free hosting.
that is very nice fersteger :)
now, i have a question.. how did you shadow the pic? did you make it with pencil and then with the scanner the effects looked like "halftones"?? or did you use a computer application to make it?
thanks :)
Looks like a scan from a newspaper :D
hey fersteger that's reeeeeeeeeeaaaly cool! I like it a lot! sweet shading! I also like the folds in the clothes. turned out really nice. Good luck on your game! :)
chook, I like the expression. it's cool, neat style! :D
2 much school lately I've been drawing models from fashion magazines but haven't scanned anything yet....
that's why!! i love that halftone newspaper and black and white comics printing look. :)Quote:

draw a pic, scan, import into photoshop, paint it, give it details, print it, send to newspaper. Two days later buy the newspaper, they'll print your pic for you. Cut the pic, scan it, post it in Flashkit :)
thanks guys
nayades - I drew it in pencil scanned it and colored it in greys in photoshop then on the color layer use the pixelate, halftone filter.
I increase the image size before doing the filter so when I shrink it down the dots are smaller. Its a cool effect, like japanese manga magazines. Im gonna post some new chars once I finish drawing em.
Made a new background today...and would be honored if anybody would actually start using it :D
1280x1024
if anyone needs other resolutions, I would be glad to put some more out!
i thought so :) thanks for the infoQuote:

It's just simple gummybear shapes I made in a prog called Ammorphium, unfortunately I couldn't add a jelly texture to them only flat solids but hey. :)

Oh, and starting out 3D i see? Great start! I suggest swift for the beginning though. I've used it from v.1.0 when it came out - and now i finally switched to max.

Hey,
This is the first time I have ever posted anything.
I must say there is some really great pictures on here, I could never draw anything as good.
Anyway I had a go, it's suppose to be an elephant (just incase you could not tell)
The problem is that it looks very flat and dull, I was wondering if anyone had any tips or advice to make the picture look alot better.
Thanks
Breaking out the old Gray's Anatomy book? :DQuote:

"The Artist's Complete Guide to Facial Expression" by Gary Faigin is a great book for facial muscles and expressions.
thats pretty cool, Nice cartoony style, The only suggestion I have would be another darker value for some shadows. The more shading you add the less flat it will look.
Thanks
Yeah shadows would help it look less flat. The thing is I'm not sure where to add the shadows
well is not that difficult, just create an imaginary lightsource, and apply a darker colour to the areas opposite of the light source.
:)
just like this:
That looks so cool.
I will have to try that.
Thanks
well it's kinda crappy :). did it in five mins, saved it at low res :)
I tried some shading, I think it still needs a little work.
:)
gday guys
melmann your work is sooooooo good. those chicks you draw are pretty damn hot mate.
fospher that first drawing you did... the tunnel one, that was straight off a tut book. hehe!! i did that one and then i used the camera and sorta zoomed in. it looked really cool
all the stuff is good in this thread. mate i'm looking at all these line pencil sketches and the colour ones and mate i'm astounded. all you guys are really talented. here i am just a student who can barely draw.
maybe if i got a scanner i'd be more motivated to draw for computer.. probably not.. i've got a tablet
i've tried to learn 3dsmax but i just can't get the hang of it.. i should get a tut book maybe...
oh yeah and i love it when people spell "elephant" as "elefant" the f is soo much cooler. im not being sarcastic.. it's like using a y instead of an i like in "downsyde" i like quirky stuff like that. but not z that sucks. im side tracked i think.
