great job.
you have to look very closely...its the sort of leafy part from the last one...it was sideways but i flipped it...and made the back of it longer...also i added the chick from "lost" acouple pages back...sorry if that wasn't allowed...
awayout, good job mang. real good job.
I'm not much of a battler or crazy artist, but i really liked awayout's abstact. been doing too much boring clientwork myself, so that contrast is what i thoght of when i saw it: cool vs boring, complex vs simple, lost vs found, ect ect.
[edit] wait a second... what does this have to do with "kung fu fightin" ? eh well :)
I like it >flashl!ght< simple yet balanced. And green is not my favorite color, but d@mn if it doesn't work.
Great job.....
Green is the most potent color ;-)
irnonically, the last 4 client projects have been for a clients that for some odd reason loved the color green... go figure
ummmmmm.. thought I would drop a note telling you my name!
nice, fun to see my volley get volleyed (yes: im a first time battler :))
so what, is the Arena dead? but i just got here! :(
This place goes up and down......Holiday time now......bound to be a little slow, but this IS rediculous.
I've never been in a photoshop competition..
I'm not the best but I'm pretty ok I guess..
sounds pretty fun, I'm not sure about the rules I made a picture (probably breaking some kind of tournament rule)
You can see it HERE
Lol, yep, breaking the rules. What you're supposed to do is use the previously posted image and incorporate it into an image of your own.
yup; basically the whole concept of "battle" or "tennis" is that you take the previous image, and mess with it as much as you want, as long as it's not totally gone. and IMHO (and ive been in what, only 2 battles besides this one) its most fun when you work off the previous theme as well, sort of communicating via imagery.
that said, you image does communicate, just nothing to do with the last post, HOWEVER its a nice pic and DOES relate to this thread:
http://www.flashkit.com/board/showth...hreadid=601482
and we need a third guy :) of course you will have to take your pic and work it into a previous image...
sweet consider me in.. :smoov: now that I got the rules;)
And he sucks him right in.......he he. Good job mang.Quote:

Good luck flashpenguin, looks like you found a good battle to take part in.

about it, i went through the last 28 pages, but now there is nothing

yes, it's still ongoing.
take the last image, and make your image. same size, something from a part of that last image placed/worked into your image, and feel free to rotate.
yeah i saw the whole thing gerbick, also i saw that you were part of the other, also i saw another post that had flaskit vs. U something going on and i think you were in there too, i thought it looked cool but i guess thats only for some people huh, well i like the idea and i'll be putting something on soon.
watch this!
aiight rbs, i got the next one...
should have it up today or tomorrow
so here goes never done this before and don't use photoshop much, be sure to criticise, i do need it...took about an hour and a half to do this...
nice one!
i have a little qustion!
how do u do the efect of the lines?
(see the pic)
I didn't make the lines effect...it was a hangover from flashlight's great vs-remix.jpg ...
But I guess that in photoshop you could use a 1 pixel width pencil tool to draw a straight vertical black line (hold down the 'shift' button to draw perfectly straight) on a white background (or vice versa) then make a selection of the line and one pixel to the left or right (not both), so the selection mask is 2 pixels wide (you'll have to zoom in pretty close to do this). It doesn't matter how high the selection is but make sure the pencil line extends above and below the selection.
Once you have your selection, go to 'Define Pattern...' (under the 'Edit' menu) and give it a name in the dialogue box that pops up (eg "vertical lines").
Now you have defined this pattern you can use it in any document by going to the 'Edit' menu again and selecting 'Fill...'. In the dialogue box that pops up click the 'Use:' drop down menu and select 'Pattern'.
Your previously defined pattern will be visible along with some other preset patterns that come with photoshop. Play around with the Blending Modes to get different effects. Press the 'OK' button and behold amazing vertical lines pattern! This is probably the long way to go about things but, well, I'm a flashie, not a 'shoppie! Hope this helps and isn't to hard to understand...
Tip: create a new layer over the layer you want to use the line pattern with and fill this layer with the pattern. Then adjust the layer blending and opacity in the layers options. This gives you more control and allows you to see the effects of blending and opacity in realtime.
oops, sorry hoccalugee, i made mine for rbs initial one before you posted yours, so i know this one is prolly late and doesnt count but heres what I came up with for RBS' intial "opening doors"
nice one!
i love the efects!

nice image to happy pixel, i've been admiring your stuff for a while.
Thanks for the comment squidlips! You have some nice designs as well
a little busy perhaps, nowhere for the eye to rest, but I'm just practising, any advice?
I thought it was a cool image, if i had to give advice i'd say it could use more "form". [idea arrives]More tangible, solid aspects to create a focus point for the eye and bring the image a stronger concept. Like those bullets could have been part of a whole, totally solid scene going on the foreground, and then worked into the background.[/idea]Quote:

edit: actually, i feel like volleying that :D
It's 2.30am and I don't feel like sleeping. I'll get a volley tonight :)
hmmm... lack of focus, pretty much reflects what I was thinking at the time, just background ideas nothing really coming forward. Sound advice man, reflects what I've gotta work on too, getting a solid idea. Thanx... I'll await your volley...
Here it is. Wow, I think I'm going to be addicted to these battles. I make web pages all day generally conforming to what they want. This is the best way to let your mind run!

This is my first volley, hope it fits with the rules.
Nice reply man, now enjoy yourself in the arena :)
Hey dustar how did you get the blood effect??? Did you use a brush for that effect? Or something else? I know you can use a brush for it but I cant find em anywhere. I would have liked to use that blood effect for my previous volley. It would have made it much cooler.
prediction, dustar is destined for big things here on fk.
i have seen two of your volleys and they both obliterate ass. :D
crit: i didn't like the font selection in the top left hand corner.
p.s. i am gonna volley that now. :)

pushing out volleys quick is kinda fun. all the good parts of rushing without the stress. :)
The shiny blood was part of the stock photo, and the full size pic shows that it is real liquid. Its cool, hey :).Quote:

The stripes were just done with the marquee tool.
Nice volley squid :)
I think it's time I volley.
