I like the 3d Xup, I need to learn to do characters one of these days :/
anyway, did some pixel art before work today : http://www.abstractinfluence.com/~ma...dragonanim.gif
it needs a little work / color (Anyone wanna suggest some colors? :))

hey everyone!
I like your superman guy, mastermute!
CNO, cool Pokemon dude. Looks lots like the original!
cool 3D planes, ian! needs some textures, though.. nice and smooth, though!
xup, I love how detailed your character is! Looks like that was quite a job. turned out reaaally good! do we get to see the finished product of the animation when it's done? :D
olly k, haha! I saw that movie not too long ago. style looks like it's right out of the movie! speaking of which, did the artist(s) who did that movie also do the stuff for Monty Python? my mom and I think so, but we're not sure; the styles are nearly identical.
ian, the pixel art on your velaptrocaur (think that's the wrong name, I forgot what they're called) looks cool! I'd say a dark red would work well. maroon!
I made a thread for the new online comic I'm working on (yeah I'll have tons when the site's ready!), except I hardly got any replies, so I'll post it here:

use the left and right arrows on your keyboard to navigate through the 'pages'. there's no preloader, and on a 56k modem it takes about 77 seconds to load the whole thing, so be patient with it! I just wanted to get people's feedbacks to see how much they like it. :)
e_Tahn, springton streets looking good. :)
I got a little confused halfway through though, I think you need colour and speech bubles, so you know whos talking to who :)
As for the Monty Python question, I have no idea! I think it was just a general style then but if it was the same person they must have been on something very strong! :D
Ian it took a little screenshot of your terrodactyl thingy and colour it, I've attached it if you want to have a look :)
Oh and his nose and claw get cut off when he moves down btw.
Love his tail movement though! :)
I like you're coloring better than mine, a lot smoother etc, the only real problem w/ animating it etc would be that i'd have to change every frame / part in the thing. See I did it in photoshop 1st, then opened the PSD in Fireworks, so I could just move the layers around for animation, unfortunately I didn't set them up as library objects etc, so its sort of a pain to update... but anyway, I changed the pallette when exporting, so theres some color now :)

Yeah those colours look great! :D
If you want to know what I used is was MS paint :D I always use that for pixel art and emoticons and that kinda thing :)
I believe the only animator who worked on both Monty Python and Yellow Submarine was Mike Stuart. :)
Of course, a lot of the humour in Yellow Submarine was no doubt inspired by Monty Python.
Ian - I like the pixel guy, but it would be even better if you added some secondary motion on the head and feet (ie. make the head move up and down as well as the body, perhaps on alternate frames, and "flexing" the claws might make it look more menacing/commpliment the tail action).
I was thinking of doing the head motion, it looks like the tail is moving for no reason right now, I'll probably do some recoloring and just reanimate the whole thing later on.
And just so I don't sound like I'm talking out of my posterior, here is a sample animation from a Flash game I'm working on - simple overhead walk cycle, but the secondary animation makes it seem convincing (see if you can spot all of the actions).

Sorry about the color, but I've discovered that exporting a Flash file with gradients as a gif using anything but a Web216 palette is a sure-fire way to crash the program.
there was humor in that? i just thought the whole thing was warped...Quote:

Check out my brand-new Life in a box :)
ok..I know this doesn't make any sense, but hey :P
Thanks Wouthor. Not to crow on about my own "accomplishments", but I am proud that the total file size for the character fully animated (besides just the walk cycle) is about 4k through optimization and re-use of symbols. Perfect for a Flash game. :)Quote:

I will be putting together some detailed tutorials for the board once all of my other writing responsibilities are out of the way (although realistically, there's not much I could say that hasn't already been posted somewhere or another on these boards).
He he CNO that's great!
I love penguins! :D
Looks very good CNO!!! And only 4K....great
Gerwin
nice one CNO.. why dont you try animating it so that it turns when it gets to the end and walks back, making it loop perfectly?
just a suggestion :)
Like I said - this is a sprite for a game - has a full range of animation. I just wanted to demonstrate overlapping motions to illustrate my point. :)Quote:

hey mel thats great work i also have some black and white stuff i drew and i would like to scan it and color it using ether photoshop or

hey guys!

I'm really proud of it; I drew it about 2 weeks ago and colored/shaded the whole thing yesterday. I was up till 2 AM!!! aaak!
Ian, I like the coloring scheme. looks great!
CNO, that's a cute purple penguin thing you have there!! I wanna play the game!!
Wouthor, life in a box was interesting. I checked out a few more things on your site; I like the one where the clay dude gets printed out. that was cool!
toony, cool superhero! I'd say add some tinting to it, but right now it has a classic comic book feel... I dunno what you'd call it; I like it though!
Hey Tahn that looks great!
I don't know how hard those programs are to use, because I tend to use Flash for nearly everything now, it suits my style best, but it certainly looks like you've spent a lot of time on it!
One iddy biddy comment I would make though, is that his hands look far too detailed against the rest of him, maybe just have simple cartoony fingers :)
