I haven't done much of anything in the last 6 months, unfortunately. What's not here (and some of what is) is posted on my da account fearless.deviantart.com ... I should really update that.
That's some great work, man. I was trying to decide, but I still think the "Ever Feel Like..." image is one of my favorites.Quote:

So all of you who are saying "I'm losing", "I'm tied"...I think you should cut that crap out. If you are losing, take it like a man and just allow the voting to continue unhindered. Quit trying to get votes by dropping hints about which image is yours.
Weak sauce, dudes...
I was about to say the same thing.Quote:

sorry, I'm from Florida though. ;)
Hahahaha sure, we can have a recount... it wont make a difference, bush will still win... ;)Quote:

THANK YOU NORDS! YOU TOOK THE WORDS RIGHT OUT OF MY MOUTH!!! :thumbsup:Quote:

you're right, over course. i hear you...just trying to offer another viewpoint. i'm sure some people could take the time to figure out whose volleys are whose, but those people have most likely already voted. i think everyone has been behaving. now if someone starts saying, "i can't believe i'm losing to THAT terrible image," then it's time for a smackdown.Quote:

and with all the anonymity around here, it's pretty hard to pick out one above the other...and once you vote you're done. You want to stifle the conversation, then talking about losing, winning, tieing, or pretty much anything that has anything to do with any image whatsoever.
I say that nords is completley right in this. If you aren't bashing anyone who cares? If you really want to piss people off, keep telling them not to post....then you'll get your wish...nobody will be here.
Hey, I feel the excitement. This has just been nuts, and the last thing I would want to do is be a killjoy. I just think that if we are going to keep the names a secret...which I do think is a good thing...pits skill against skill instead of it turning into a popularity contest...then we should do that throughout the entire voting process. That means the people who win can feel good about their victory. It had been earned on the merits of the image alone. If everyone is done voting then we should close the polls down and declare the winners. If not, then the same rules that applied when voting began should still apply now.
And in regard to people posting guesses about who did what image, that's cool and a lot of fun...what's not are the people who confirm whether it is or not.
You guys crack me up. RUSH NORDS LEFTY there is truth in what all three of you say. I feel what is a shame is the lack of people voting come on now how many people are in the arena there should be more votes in my opinion.
AND THE DRAMA OF WHOS IMAGE IS WHOS IS KILLING ME I"M PROBABLY NOT GOING TO SLEEP EARLY TODAY!!!! :)
Lefty...I love ya, man. Let me clarify something. I'm not calling you or anyone else a cheater. Read back, you'll see. What I'm saying is that the people who were posting in a manner to which I objected simply didn't realize the implications of the information they were revealing with their comments. This includes you. No hard feelings, dude. :D
the best point made in these last few posts is about the lack of voting. as it stands, i think there are less voters than total competitors. just wow! i would like to see at least 100 votes, if not 500. where is everyone?
You know what...I just lied. It seems that I did call some people cheaters. I should perhaps clarify further then, and say that I'm sure that not everyone...and maybe not anyone...did it on purpose. So I'll apologize if I grouped anyone in here with this statement that didn't belong.Quote:

Personally, i feel that people aren't going to read through 30 pages of this thread just to find out who was who...I don't even think that would have played into this contest at all...even if they didn't konw what was going on, it's my guess that someone would have voted on those images without even looking at this discussion thread even once. I could be wrong, but i don't think someone would take the time to do that just to sway a vote. If any votes were swayed it was through private messages, they're own websites or any instant messaging program being used.
when i posted the 'losing' thing, it was just to wake the thread up a little bit...it was pretty stagnant this morning/afternoon.
EDIT: Sorry, but i just thought of something else. Lets say for example that i said 'OMG, i can't believe that image Y #2 is LOSING...I can't believe it'....?????? Seriously, you can't consider that cheating...that's why it's anonymous.
That's a good point about the voting. I think there are only 42 votes total in my pairing last time I checked, and it's about the same with the others. Maybe we need to increase the hype to get more people looking at it.
The way this is anonimous helps the voting, true people could be pm'ing each other, but come on now lets be realistic how many pm's and how many peopl are you going to convince to vote for you?
I FEEL THIS TOURNAMENTS IS AWESOME AND DRI PUT A LOT OF WORK INTO IT
in my opinion when members don't vote it shows that they don't care. You can't force people to care... but the arena has helped me grow though critiques participation and I feel It's a must that I participate as mych as I can. It pisses me off when people take what they can get and want and trow the rest to ...t with actions like not voting.
This should be a time when we all sit back and have fun with what the year has given us and show courtesy and appreciation for our fellow designers.
Peace.
See...now that's exactly the kind of stuff that is cool to post! :) :thumbsup:Quote:

To tell the truth, were I to have read that information before I had voted, it would have swayed my voting if only to see what the person I voted for would come up with in the next round. I think that is why we need to keep the anonymity in our comments.
I was also wondering if we could open a thread for image critiques. This is one of the largest battles (if not the largest) that the arena has seen. There have been some excellent images, yet I think it would be beneficial if people knew why they may have lost votes on their image. This way people could improve their technique. There are several new members who posted images for the first time, and I'm sure they would appreciate some criticisms in order to get better.
I'm officially rooting for MarkP now. I figure it would make my day if I lost to the champion. ;)
I've been silent... mainly due to still being sick and recently pulling my hamstring - still that's nothing compared to what Dri's going through - but as I've seen it, this year... the voting has been downright close and the pairings went off well. In fact, I'll be surprised that it doesn't start a new set of battles because it's that damn close in a lot of instances... some after-march madness match-ups.
As far as naming what picture you've done, this year is a lot better at not naming your picture than last year was. Hell, I was guilty of that last year than anything else.
I'm impressed by this first round more than I was last year. By a large margin. And this year, I can't tell who did what.
As far as after-march madness critiques... this thread will be open after it all finishes... and I'd personally love to go one-on-one and offer any critiques if they're wanted. Just ask... but please... no blowing up if I say something that you don't like.
I say it each and every time I give a critique... it's only my personal opinion... I'm not a pro.
So anyway, everyone made valid points. The real debate is, do we get free flashkit regalia for winning? If I remember correctly Gerbs got a t-shirt and ond got a random assortment....
Critiques later big thumbs up. Although I know what I did wrong I wouldnt mind hearing other opinions.
The voting being low annoys me as it does everyone else. What gets me though is mainly the people competing are voting. Now these people are set in their styles. It would have been nice to get others in here to give opinions. I personally almost trend whored out just to stay in the winning, but in the end said it was all in fun and i would put something I had never tried out there (this shouldnt give away my image at all)
As for my complaints, I stayed as generic as possible. It was more playful ganter than anything.. It is always hard to accept being in the looser group. But hey if you dont like where you fall, you should have tried harder i guess.
so, are we the only people doing a march madness design tournament?
this is so cool, it's hard to believe nobody else is doing it.
and gerbs is right...the anonymity is much better this year.
i don't think anyone realized we should do that until after the first round.
I call shenanigans there paco! ;)Quote:

I'm all for the critique thread. Put me on the top of the list of people who want feedback. ;)
edit: Just because there is so little time left for voting let me assure everyone who thought I was being an arrogant ass who was winning and didn't want vote skewing to turn things around...I'm one of the biggest losers in this competition. :)
Yeh, not to put you on more of a pedistal, but if your not a pro who the uck fay is?Quote:

Just so you all know, I will close the polls in 1 hour (midnight EST) and post the identities of everyone after that.
Set your alarms and watches!
I'm so very excited!
you clearly can not hide it. :smoov:Quote:
