At least doing your way it takes into account daylight saving. Apparently the MMFlash5 player has some issues here.
You can code around it, but it is not full-proof.

I found the answer to my previous confusion whether the main movie could be dragged or not -- in case if anyone else was confused. The main movie can be dragged too. That is how the behaviour is implemented in MM Flash. Regular movie can be manipulatd in much the same way as the movie clips except duplicateMovieClip(),swapDepths()(),removeMovieCli p().
