Oi! Drinking sucks, especially with the phosphates (Smirnov Ice). I haven't had a drink since October! :)
drinking is the least of my vices.
I don't understand this new puritanism. Fair enough if you don't wanna drink, but saying 'real men don't drink' is absolutely stupid.
I know binge drinking is hardly the most glamorous activity, but for a lot of people it is a phase of growing up and has its value. How else do you learn your limits if you never push them? Also, to say 'all alcohol is bad' is just plain wrong. People who drink a little (between one and three units of alcohol per day on average) are proven to be healthier and happier than their strictly teetotal counterparts.
It ain't all about knocking back as much cheap lager and vodka as you can you know. If you want to deny yourself some of life's simpler, more wholesome pleaures, such as sharing a good bottle of red wine in good company on a balmy evening with some good food, then you're going to miss out big time.
If you ain't tried it...You can't knock it.
Real Men Don't Drink?
2 things :
What is the difference between a man and a Real man?
Why the anti-alcohol digs?
Fair enough if you don't want to drink then don't but when I read about people saying how drink destroys your life and makes you unhealthy I feel sorry for them. That point of view is pure ignorance.
I myself go out every weekend and have a few drinks. I have 2 friends who don't drink and they don't seem that much different from me. Don't get me wrong, abusing it is bad and all that but what's wrong with going out with a few friends after work for a few drinks to talk about stuff in a relaxed sociable atmosphere? NOTHING!
Saying Real Men Don't Drink is elitist bullsh*t no matter what way you look at it. Because someone drinks and someone else does not it does not make that person in any way inferior. The only difference is that that person made a choice to drink something and the other person did not.
If this were a topic about pure alcoholism then it would be a different story but since it is about just drinking then I'm gonna take it for the misinformed bull it really is.
I have a job. I am fit and healthy. I'm a christian. I am a man (real or not). Do I drink?....... HELL YES!
real men don't whine about what real men should and shouldn't do.
If it's legal and doesn't affect you then mind your own business.
Exactly!

.....although by moaning about people moaning about stuff I have relinquished my position as a real man, oh this is so confusing, give me beer.

The cause of...and solution to...all of life's problems.

The perfect quote for this thread.
men feel like studs after a few drink... maybe coz alcohol relaxes the inhibitions people has when they are sober... some laugh a lot, some become silent depends on the mood and the character of each person...

absolutely true!
What other people do is their business and their business only, one can't define a real man by whether he drinks or not.
The abuse of alcohol, as with any substance has its harmful effects.

Your must take everything in moderation, EVEN MODERATION!, sometimes to truly enjoy life you have to go a little wild.
Besides mass quantities of alcohol are just as dangerous as mass quantities of cheeseburgers, and there are more people frequenting Mac Donald's each day that the liquor store.
If you choose not to drink, it is your choice and I respect that, however if someone makes a choice different from yours you should respect that also... not degrade them to the status of NOT A REAL MAN

post next time when you're sober

Its wierd how American culture generally sees alcohol as a negative thing. European attitudes are completely different. In fact, there is a small town in spain where the life expetancy is higher than that of anywhere else in the world. The inhabitants of this place drink on average a bottle of red wine a day.
This is a real man. 2 bottles, and that's just for breakfast :)
