cl mod reduced?

Jamble...couldn't have said it better myself, although I did touch upon that a few posts ago:p

But in addition to members replying to threads they don't need to reply to, threads are being made, and posts that are simply against FK rules. Mods then have to come in and say "this isn't the right forum" or "not appropiate for FK", and these kind of things, as a bunch of you have mentioned, can easily be taken care of by the FKers themselves.

I personally have replied to less and less threads recently just for that reason. So many posts/threads have been crap, and I don't want to be a part of it. Then when a decent post/thread comes along, you have to have people posting irrelevant material, having hijacking contests and the like, etc.

there's lots of lovely "mass-debate" threads and "is this right/wrong" threads that for my money are daft and it amazes me people take them on and debate things that don't have definitive answers. Sometimes I chip in and have a giggle at the thread, sometimes I don't. I've been around FK longer than most and seen how the CL (since I don't use any other forums) has become a much younger place. The topics aren't as thought provoking or interesting as they used to be. I've never been a great one for starting new threads, I like to reply and read more. I guess it comes down to the simple matter of if you've got nothing constructive to say, keep it zipped :D (not you btw hockey!)

Seriously, though. The CL is a major indicator of the ebb and flow of the trends here at FK. True, I think FK has gotten younger than it's been since I first arrived here. True, a lot of users have moved on. But, with that said... jambo and swampy have said it best. Self-moderation is the key.

I don't think it will happen with some of the younger membership - kids like to break rules and push boundaries, simple as that. It annoys me that certain members chirp up and demand to be treated as young adults but then don't behave as young adults.


unfortunately it's these same people that sit in the CL all day spamming threads and turning the older memebers away to other sites.

and supermods don't really want to have to be only modding the CL you know...

and here's a perfect example of something that should have been 'self modded' and not posted in the first place.

idura99 should be taken off from the list. Perhaps gerbick or other active mods should take his place. Coffee Lounge is the most active board here in FK; therefore, active mods should stay here. Gerbick and aversion are the most active here so far. Gerbick, however, because of your activeness, you're sometimes annoying, you spam the board, and you practice hijacking inconspicuously. No offence gerbick, but I know you're just silly sometimes :p

We havn't had any really good debates for a long time, the last one that I can actually remeber was the one about how nescacarry the dropping of the A-Bomb by the US was.

I agree this forum has gotten younger, I have seen a lot more questsions that should have been in placed in one of the help forums come up in here. There seems to be like 3-4 every week instead of 1 every 3-4 weeks. Also someones that are just plain out pointles (alla, hijacking competion
...eceppeccially when it invloved the help forums).

I have modded other forums, and this is probably one of the worst I have seen (I am not a mod here). In one of my forums, we had a problem with one poster...a young poster, that well...he liked to post...a lot. Well, we told him how it wasn't write, we punished him once, and he got it straight, and now is pretty good on that board. Also, this forum has a lot of neck-bighting of peoples personal opinons, and people just generally being jerks in the fourm.

This forum, could really use a "Rules" thread much like the flash footer one. I think it would help a lot and minimize the questions that should be in other forums.


Well, that is my 2 cents worth.

I agree with onlinegs, I know you get to see the Terms and Conditions when you sign up, but obviously it isn't working. A forum rules thread or link or annoncement would help i reckon.
And anyway, there's no reason not to do it...

One of the reasons we (swish mods) don't travel these parts is because.

Our main goal has always been helpng others with swish.
Before I was a mod at fk I was a mod and still am at swishspot and wow-factor. Heck look at Cadence
He's done a million tutes, is constantly helping others via email requests is a mod at 4ums, wow-factor, total impact and his new forum as well as moderating here.

And the other thing is to be honest it's just plain easier.
When people come to swish help they want answers there's a lot of members there who make it easy by having them and contributing back. When I first moderated at another forum
I was the only answer provider. We'd get a member ask 3 questions never return never reply. The Swish Help forum is great because of it's members. They come after they get swish and need an answer. Other members treat them with respect even if they've heard the same question a million times. they come back with another and so on. They like the atmosphere and contribute. When I go to the forum I read the topic and check the last person who replied. I know all the regulars and I know I don't have to follow behind them.
I still do just to read what's there. And if I gain some knowledge along the way I remember who I got it from and credit them. It's really a win win situation.

I look at like this I have the status of moderating at the easiest forum.

As for CL mod's I think you'll be seeing more share the load
from mods at other forums.

Moderating CL is tough I give credit to anyone who does or has.
