Kirill M.
mmmh, yes, the bug you mentionned was here from the begining, and i never fixed it. bah, the game is quite hard, by chance some meteorits get stuck ^^
about your javascript help, well, that's just because i'm not very familiar with it at the moment. i think i know the minimum of it :)
thanks anyway!
fospher.com
thanks a lot for the compliment :) :)
about sounds, there are taken from so much different NES games that i couldn't tell you. it was most preferably taken from a lot of shoot'em up games. maybe there are some after burner sounds in it...
-
did you rip those sprites too?
-
Marmotte: You should definately check Javascript out. It is IDENTICAL to Actionscript (probably because that's what AS was based on). Same syntax, dot targetting, some similar functions. You'd be really surprised with the number of cool things you can do with it (and how little you see people doing them).
-
^^ you mean java premiere?
-
No, I don't. What's that?
I mean the Javascript on webpages. Popups and whatnot. I'm just saying it can do so so much more then that.
-
bah!
java premiere is a computer language in which a lot of programs are written, a sister to c++. for example flash was written in it. you can also create cool online apps, which involve math and such to produce effects flash cant often handle.
javaScript is pretty much limited to popups and maybe some mouse trailers or such.
-
yes, i should definitely take a deeper look at JS. i found some sites that may be more than helpful; that's how i implemented the "window shaking" action when you die. and that's true, i noticed that it was quite similar to AS.
but is it not too risky to use a lot of JS, since some browsers may not accept them? (sorry, i don't know a lot about this subject)
Beatcow
no, that game is original, i draw the graphics/sprites/backgrounds by myself.
the only thing not 100% original are the explosions/bip sounds.
-
ok, and ive been wondering. How do you make that window pop-up. I searched the net, but only found alert and prompt boxes(which i already know due to VB). But your game had a pop-up. How do i do that?
-
www.google.com
type: javascript popup
that's it ^^
i've found so much things like that.
-
You couldn't have looked too hard...
window.open(URL, windowName[, windowFeatures])
URL - it's the address in string form (ie, double quotes)
windowName - the window's target name
windowFeatures - comma deliminated list of window features (like whether or not you want to show a scrollbar, sizes... ect.)
Usually I do something like this:
Code:
puGame = window.open("http://mydomain.com/game.html", "_game", "width=whatever, height=whatever");
puGame.focus();
-
does it work with free web hosting sites?
-
Yup. Javascript is client based (ie, done by your web browser)... except in some cases... but don't worry about that.
-
Uh, oh. What have I done. :D
-
hehe ^^
you simply turned that thread into a javascript thread...
-
Nice job, man. I like being able to change the color of my pixelBoy. Have you considered buying www.pixelboy.com? No one has it. :) It's very catchy, too.

yeah,me thinks the same,excellent game marmotte :)
i´m doing a full night coding session right now (as i´ve got stuff to finish and went to a party yesterday,so i have to do it today/night..) and i´m playing your game for five minutes about every two hours once i need a little distraction to avoid slipping into dream :)
some different enemies wouldn´t hurt (though maybe they appear later and i just didn´t get far enough yet..),anyho also nice multiplayer scrolling,
great job on the game boy style, too, works, looks and feels perfect
-
A really good game, well done marmotte! :D
Only one thing I think might be a glitch :). At the beginning of the first level when the tiny guys are entering the "craft" there is a propelling sound being played and then it stops... and after 2 seconds it plays again. Maybe there is a sound loop error :).
It was quite hard to play on my 1280x1024 resolution :).
-
Hey, marmotte, sorry I have not responded to your thread yet!
Great work!!! I love the graphics! So good. I wish I could do that stuff, but I can't, and don't tell me otherwise, if you really want to see what I have do, you can, but its scary.
Anyways, it is very good. Nice, there are different modes. Fun!!
Hard though! I can't even beat easy mode! lol.

btw, marmotte, if you hold the space button for a while your ship will fire a "shield" practically making you invincible, and killing everything in its way. you still die sometimes, but i suggest allowing less lasers to come out of the ship, to kill that effect.
cheerio!
